Cowboy Bebop (Episodes 1-2) PATREON EXCLUSIVE SERIES

Okay Space Cowboys.... this is amazing!

Comments

Honestly, the music in Cowboy Bebop is as much a part of the cast as Spike or Jet or any of the others. I don't care what the anime is, if Yoko Kanno did the soundtrack I'm going to check it out...

Paul Golabowski

I have a soft spot for the dubbed version, since it was my first experience of anime on adult swim, and now i prefer subs, but the dubbed version of this show is objectively amazing.

Ezra Solomone

...Oh no, you didn't watch the dub.

Mune Yotsuki

Bebop is a style of music, a lot of the themes in this show, including the main theme during the intro, are examples of it. It's basically a style of Jazz.

Mintspringbok

Setting up the series as a serial was intentional by the artist. A bounty of the weak thing, while trickling in an overarching story.

BoyBovine

top notch animation

gusttafa

omg wait i saw this on adult swim too the opening just sent 1000yrs of memories flooding into my brain

Bambi

Happy to have you here with me on this watch!

An actual SUBBED reaction to Cowboy Bebop? I am as shocked as I am pleased. The Dub is good, but only really in comparison to most other Dubs, many of the line deliveries still come off as rushed and awkward in English, despite the VA's being really good.

First time watcher of Cowboy Bebop here, I liked episode 1 more than 2. If I had to take issue with any of part of the show I'd say I'm not a huge fan of episodic anime with self-contained plots in a single episode, but I'll keep watching these reactions as its a good opportunity to watch a so-called classic.

KazumaSpitfire

Tank is that Goat anime OP (imo of course). Funny enough never seen the sub so this'll be interesting--like other folks say, the dub is great. Fairly certain I saw the movie in sub though, haha.

Chris Jarrett

Sub?? Cowboy Bebop dub is legendary

Thicc Thanos

man its been maybe 10 years since I watched this series in full, im hype, lets go!

Eric Winning

I know I wrote a long ass comment earlier, but I could have worded it differently. If you truly prefer sub, that’s fine, but I’d at least recommend rewatching the first episode and getting a taste of the dub. Just so it’s not a blind decision.

Nathan Elkin

Thank you for watching this in the original language. I know it's mostly down to personal taste but generally, I think, Americans tend to prefer the American dub so most reactions feature that version. I much prefer the Japanese so I'm grateful. The American dub of this is actually not too bad, especially for an older anime series. I don't want anyone to think I'm putting it down. It's the version I first saw on UK television and I enjoyed it. It's just personal taste so I'm not starting an arguement, I'm just giving thanks.

Caradoc Elmet

Oh nah watching cowboy bebop in Japanese over the dub is crazy but to each their own

Mesha

thats a love letter to an anime if iv ever seen one, choom <3

flexie coming to the realization that she is /in/ the culture

spectral.mozzarella

Yea I'm cool with whenever as long as she watches it, I think she said she will

I love getting that explanation. When I watched Samurai Champloo, I thought it had such similar vibes and artistic style to Cowboy Bepop. I didn't realize it was directed by the same guy. I totally agree about the dub, I was surprised that two shows as old as these ones had such great dub versions. People are so biased against dubs though. I don't see Flexie ever recording a reaction in dub, which is unfortunate because I think it's better for reactions. I watch another reactor who does Naruto in dub and I really like it.

Charles

Hope you react to the animated movie as well, it doesn't tie to the big story in the series, but it's definitely worth watching, it's supposed to take place between episode 22 and episode 23

YellowboyRickLee

Not going to lie. The dubbed version for this particular anime is beyond good. Just throwing that out there.

Kirk Murray

I forgot to mention, Bebop is a type of jazz music. It basically means really experimental and bombastic.

Nathan Elkin

Couple things to say, but the most important thing is something that hurt my soul when I started watching this reaction. I watch most anime subbed, but if there were ever any shows to watch dubbed, it’s the ones made by the guy who directed this show, as well as Samurai Champloo and Space Dandy. The director is HEAVILY influenced by American culture, and he himself prefers his creations viewed in English. Cowboy Bebop is renowned for one of the best dubs in all of anime, sitting side by side with Fullmetal Alchemist. The sub is fine, nothing wrong with it, but the dub is iconic, so please switch. I’m surprised no one has said that yet… The other thing I wanted to say is I relate to your experience with Cowboy Bebop, I was the same with Avatar The Last Airbender. I would randomly catch it on tv when I was little but never had the chance to watch it all the way through. Then in high school I remembered it and started having a craving for cool animation, probably after watching the most recent Pixar movie or something, so I finally watched it. That was the start of my hunt for animated shows, and after I finished Avatar, Cowboy Bebop was the first anime I ever watched. It’s solely responsible for my desire to tell unique stories with many interlocked influences. Cowboy Bebop is about bounty hunters in space with a jazz background. Samurai Champloo is about samurai bodyguards with a hip hop soundtrack, set in the 1600’s. Space Dandy… is complicated because every episode was given to a different group of animators, all trying to one up each other, so each episode has its own style and pacing. It was this approach to storytelling that made me study music and writing, and I’m now an author and composer. Every episode of Cowboy Bebop is titled after a famous song, and the band who made the soundtrack would make the songs, and then the animation and episodes would be built around the music. The story was written by the director, but he cared about respecting the music and culture first and foremost… so please watch the dub 🙏 you don’t even need subtitles, the music will carry you if you get lost, and half of the story telling comes from all the small details in the animation. Finally, the space related stuff is still sci-fi, but they put a LOT of effort in making it plausible. Every plot has a real world basis for it, and all the spaceships and traveling through space is given the respect it deserves. They don’t skip out on the details.

Nathan Elkin

YES CBs one of my favs of all time, your video setup looks upgraded as well, sweettt!!

YellowboyRickLee

wow cool to know about the song, CB definitely one of my anime favs

YellowboyRickLee

Cowboy bebop is a legendary show with a famously top tier soundtrack. Tank (the op song) became so prevalent that it's actually become a jazz standard. They even have high school jazz bands learning this song. This show is a classic. Anime fans talk about bebop the way western tv fans talk about the sopranos, or breaking bad. It's simply timeless. So stoked to watch it again with you.

Jeff

If you want another old school banger Inyuasha

Cristian Rodriguez
