The week that was...

Of course, the main thing I was working on this week was the Kickstarter for the next Evil Inc graphic novel — which will be available in both SFW and NSFW versions! It ends Wednesday, so time is running out if you want to participate!

The book is currently being proofread, and I have some blank samples from the printer so I can gauge my shipping and storage needs. It's a very busy time, but super exciting!

In other news... I spent last Sunday helping to jury nominations for this year's National Cartoonists Society divisional awards!

From left: Rich Greene, Pat Higgins, Jamar Nicholas, Terry LaBan, Brad Guigar and Dave Blazek.

Dave kindly offered to host the event at his beautiful home, and I had an absolute blast talking comics for hours on end as we argued, laughed, and pontificated on our individual views on what makes a comic "good."

Cleaning out my phone, I found this photo from November 2010. Up until that point, I had saved the badge from every comic convention I tabled at — and there were quite a few! It's hard to believe how much things have changed in the comics business. Those shows used to produce a significant chunk of my annual revenue! Today, it's barely worth attending one as an attendee — much less an exhibitor. That said, I'll most likely be at Comic-Con International in San Diego this year. But that's only if our pitch to do a live recording of the ComicLab podcast gets approved again this year.
