I wouldn’t say there was no good reason. Financial stability and security are good reasons people stick with jobs they don’t like, and maybe I didn’t explain it well enough but Jay owned his apartment in the city so he had his mortgage there to think about. I wouldn’t say Jay was pushing to go back so much as he was resigned to it, because he was convinced David only wanted a temporary fling.

I was so angry with Jay continuing to push for a return that so clearly had no good reason to happen. So relieved he made the right choice, and got so cute and round as well lol :)

Originally I had ended the story after the tearful reunion in the street after the projector show, but when I went back for another draft I had the thought “If I was the reader, I’d want to know what happened to them after that”, so I added the epilogue, and I’m glad I did. It feels more like a proper ending (plus it was a good opportunity to show David even bigger haha)
I’m glad you enjoyed the story!

I like the twist on the journal, I originally had it pegged as a letter saying something like "family comes first," not an (inadvertent) warning from beyond the pale. Also feeders that get fat too are my jam! ❤️ Lovely story, and like that it had a storybook kind of epilogue, counter to the journal!
