I often feel it hard to comment on a movie that is already so rich in its commentary, but I love that all reactions are not made equal!
First off... I couldn't remember his name the WHOLE time! Andre Braugher. It was so amazing to see him as a young actor! POWERFUL STUFF! I love him in Brooklynn 99! RIP ❤️
This film really lingers with you- it’s emotional, thought-provoking, and deeply inspiring. I wasn’t aware of this chapter of American history, but then again, I’m not a history expert. What stood out most to me, though, was the profound significance of fighting for freedom - the internal battle of finding one’s identity and strength through moral conviction. I also really appreciated the range of characters, each with their own personal reasons for fighting, yet all united by a common cause. Watching each arc unfold and seeing what they brought to the group was incredibly powerful. And Denzel Washington... once again, he proves he’s one of the most powerful performers of our time.
The film is filled with heart-wrenching moments. You get so frustrated by the injustices, and you can’t help but feel for each character’s struggles. The ending hits hard. The score and cinematography come together perfectly, creating moments that feel almost poetic (as strange as that sounds). It’s simple but powerful, capturing the emotion of the entire story and leaving you with something that stays with you.
I was up late for this one, so enjoy the outro LMAO I managed to get thoughts out kinda! hahaha
