Halfway Broken 70 & 71

Specifically, the fact that Halfway Broken has now taken the place of My Hero Automata in the update queue. That actually did cause me a slight issue, in this highly specific case, as I had to figure out how to split the content up without ruining any Epic Moments that were upcoming. Normally, that won't be an issue. This just happened to fall at a critical part of the story, which means I suspect most people are going to figure out with these chapters at least more-or-less what Luffy and Co are up to.
Ah well, as much as it would have been more Epic to reveal it all at once, the nature of the 1st/15th split release for this story slot is more important. Not only does it mean there is one release every week throughout the month, but it also takes some of the writing-time-availability stress out of the update cycle for me. Which means I'm sticking with it. As with how I did Automata, this release is just over 5k (about 5,300), where the mid-month release will be around 10k, for a total monthly goal of around 15k for the story.
As always, the new bits of story are attached here in various formats, and I'll be updating the Master Files in the Pinned Post shortly. I'll also be posting some author's notes in the comments once I've, you know, actually written them. Enjoy more of Halfway Broken!

2025-07-03 13:57:46 +0000 UTCI was so, sooooo tempted. As it is, I left it as it was longer than I'd originally intended out of spite :-p. Other, more reasonable, people complained though. So I eventually gave in. You're pretty close on your guess, but I won't say more than that ;-). Don't want to spoil any surprises you haven't guess yet! Kuina deserves more screen time, it's just hard to juggle everyone getting enough with the expanded crew :-). I'm glad you liked the glimpse of her viewpoint we got here!

2025-07-02 13:43:36 +0000 UTCI prefer the simpler flag, but I also remember reading this on QQ where you got into an argument with someone who wouldn't stop crying about it and I kind of wish you kept your threat of making it even more complicated lol. Originally I thought the crew would just free all of the slaves from the auction and loot any valuables. Now it looks like they're going to kidnap some celestial dragons and relocate them, making the marines sacrifice valuable manpower to not only go save them but protect them instead of fully concentrating on the war. Also, thank you for the Kuina segment (I think I brought up being worried about her importance either here or on QQ before).
