House of Hellish Harlots ver0.008 (some bug fixes and a new option for the Madam)
Added 2019-12-22 23:17:55 +0000 UTCI don't really want to make a habit of midnight Sunday releases, but I've been knocked about with minor illness this week and had a minor family emergency (not too serious, fortunately) that kept me away from working for most of the day.
This is a mini-release follow-up to ver0.007 I put out last week.
Changes:
The Madam
She now has an additional option where the player can get her to add a harlot of their choice to the next round. This costs a mulligan token.
I'm not sure whether this option will survive all the way to the final game as I want to keep things fairly random when it comes to harlot choices rather than players systematically working through a list. For now it's an anti-frustration measure as I've added a lot of 'dummy' harlots and finding a specific scenario (i.e. repeating Suka no-Hirudo) involves a fair bit of trial-and-error and good RNG.
I might keep it in. The cost of a mulligan token is quite high in terms of the game economy, and the choices on the list will be curated to ensure some harlots are surprises.
Arana Solfugis
For the adventurous, Arana Solfugis is now repeatable (although probably not more than once).
Bug Fixes for Action Checks
First the obvious one where Actions go negative. Yeah, I left out the check at the beginning of both the pre- and post-room hub. That was rather foolish and is now back in.
Problems with checking Actions seem to be a common issue (largely because I want to keep the dialogue naturalistic and with multiple pathways). To counter this I've added some code to spit out an error message when Actions hit a value they shouldn't. If you see this, drop a comment with what you were doing in the game beforehand and I'll get it fixed.
Bug Fixes for The Portly Gentleman
He will now attempt to buy your mulligan token on first time leaving for all pathways (before, selling harlot experiences and leaving right after would skip this).
There was a fairly odd corner case where harlots could be scored twice if the player held onto their experiences and scored multiple from the same harlot at the same time. I added code to handle this.
And that's that for now. I'm hoping that's the last of technical coding side stuff for a while and I can get down to writing some new sexy harlot scenarios. This has taken me deeper into December than I originally planned. I'll put out the next release as soon as I have five new harlot scenarios written and implemented.
As always, thanks for your patience and support.
