June - Author Update - Devlog

Hey, hey! Hope you’re all hanging in there.

I attended a writing summit last week! It was a lot. There were some interesting topics discussed. From hard vs. soft-plotting to imposter syndrome. I'll be attending a writing retreat this month (the same one I attended last year). I'm pretty excited about it because it will just be me and Chapter 2 for two weeks. No distractions!

Anyway!

I finally figured out how to block romances—it’s not hard, just takes some setup. (Like adding some variables/if/else statements.). I went super simple for the variable name that way I only need to change one letter per RO.) Relationship lock-in won’t happen until chapters 4-5, dependent on if anything needs to be shifted around. But with the outline done (minus small beats), it should be fine.

There’s a Chapter 1 update coming very soon (I’m aiming for the end of next week). I'm just finishing up adding the achievements for ch. 2.

It will include new dialogue, additional choices, a finished character creator, and a cute little side character (he’s precious). It’ll also add the new variables needed for Chapter 2, so you won’t have to restart your save file when the next chapter drops. Speaking of -

I’ve officially locked in the release month! It will be coming to Patreon supporters first then public release. I'll release a countdown once we're closer.

I recently reworked a scene in Chapter 2 that wasn’t quite landing, but I’m much happier with it now. It’s fully finished. (just waiting to be coded in.)

One of the scenes I’m currently implementing involves the MC’s phone—you’ll be able to scroll through old texts… and maybe send a few. An ex, perhaps? Or a certain sister. Would you dare?

Flavor text has made the coding side a headache, but I’ve got a clear vision for the layout, so I’m powering through.

There’ll also be callbacks in some of these texts based on your earlier choices. For instance, how you handled the parents in Chapter 1? That comes back here.

And—thanks to a certain someone (looking at you, Gloom 👀)—I'll be adding a fun little scene between the MC and Cam while unpacking boxes. Maybe it’s just forgotten hobbies (art supplies, books, yarn/thread). Or maybe it’s something a little more… personal. The kind of box you stash in the back of the closet for a reason.

A little snippet from Chapter 2 will be going up in a few days! (There’s a tiny easter egg tucked in the scene—see if you can spot it~)
