💮April Devlog 💮

Well, another month has come and gone. They say April comes in like a lion, and out like a lamb. Considering the next city over had a tornado over the weekend, I’d say I believe it.

I’m currently on the road, headed out-of-state for an upcoming doctor’s appointment on Friday. An eight-hour round trip, and I’m spending it binge-watching the recent Nintendo Direct, reading, and writing this up. I’m also noting down some lore bits, so if there are any grammatical errors, my bad~

Apologies for not getting G's confession scene out last week, but since I had downtime from Uni (I’m counting the days, hours, and minutes until this semester is over), I focused on getting more of Chapter 2 done. With the inclusion of Tsundere choices for MC. (If G can be one, then MC can too.)

Thus far, G’s confession/kiss scene is at 1750 words. I don’t remember if I mentioned it before, but if players romance G, MC is their first everything. First partner, first kiss, first person G studied with on Chris’ bed. G is very new to all of that, so who better to ask confession advice from than that ol’ spitfire? (“Cammie Clarke at your service.”)

Here’s a little bit of that:

Cam watches, arms crossed, nodding in approval. He’s surprised at how easily $g_name shifts from looking like $g_heshe would rather be anywhere else to looking completely enamored–well, with $p_name, not him. But wouldn’t that be a funny thought?

With practiced slowness, $g_name’s long slender fingers trail along the sides of $g_hisher glasses, lowering them completely. $g_HeShe tucks inky black strands of hair behind $g_hisher ear. $g_name’s lips curl just at the edges, as $g_heshe lifts $g_hisher gaze.

$g_HisHer dark eyes settle on Cam’s face, $g_hisher tongue darting across $g_hisher lips before parting slightly. Ready to deliver the last line.

Instead, $g_hisher brow arches, and $g_hisher eyes squint.

“Wow,” $g_name mutters. “You’re so blurry.”

For a second, there’s dead silence. Cam laughs loudly, slapping his leg so hard he nearly chokes.

“Holy shit,” he wheezes, doubling over. “You had it. You had it.”

$g_name huffs, folding $g_hisher arms over $g_hisher chest before looking back to the street.

“Aww, $g_name, c’mon, don’t be upset.”

“I’m not,” $g_name blurts, a complete lie as $g_hisher lips begin to pooch out.

Cam gasps. “Oh my god, you’re actually pouting!”

$g_name shoves $g_hisher glasses back on, scowling. “Shut up.”

They’re honestly too fun to write together. I always imagine G with a perpetual frown, and Cam is just the guy poking their cheek, smiling ear to ear.

Another fun pairing that gets a little bit of spotlight in Chapter 2: Ardent and Cupid. That’s right, that big ball of fluff gets her time to shine. (Don’t worry, Angela will not be harmed. But you will learn where she came from in this chapter.)

I’ve also been organizing code. A friend of mine has been kind enough to help me look it over/clean it up. They offered to do the coding for me, but I’d prefer to learn it. That way I can troubleshoot problems (like that stupid resume button). Their payment? Ramen and fried chicken~ It’s a fair trade, I think.

With every new week/month, I keep track of how many words I write and tally them all. I do this to hold myself accountable and see what’s working and what isn’t. If I’ve barely made progress on a specific scene, I’ll look it over and figure out why I’m struggling. Sometimes it’s as simple as needing a little switch in character setup, sometimes I just need to get my ass outside and get some B12.

I felt like I was dragging last week, until I saw the tally.

I want to give a sneak peek of some of the Ro’s dialogue from Chapter 2. I think I’ll leave it up to a poll, though! I’ve got some fun little character tidbits to share this month. I may or may not have made some Ro quote stickers... and if I don’t end up making them to send out, I might just release the digital file. TBD!
