Wow. I didn't know this. Cheers.

Saw this vid was picked up in culture news aggregators and blogs like Laughing Squid. Interesting to see Second Wind breaking through to other audiences https://laughingsquid.com/james-earl-jones-stutter-voice/

Great work as always Darren! Another lesser known voice actor that was formative for me and has since passed was Tony Jay. That man could really add to a performance! His work on the old animated series Gargoyles, as Frolo in The Hunchback of Notre Dame, and in The Legacy of Kain games back in the PS1 and 2 era, will always stick with me.

Thank you for this Darren. I’m always amazed at the unexpected places that voice actors end up but I can finally place the voice in “The Raven”. I’m happy that you went through as many early and little known roles though, and I would say his section in the Big Bang Theory was the best thing the show ever did. Truly an amazing obituary.

Darren, you knocked it out of the park again. As a young nerd raised on Sesame Street and a budding Kubrick fan, Fences was the first "grown-up" play I read after seeing Jones' enthralling performance. Similar to your Simpsons experience, he opened my mind to theater and the power of an incredible actor.

Nowhere do I feel it as much as with Star Wars and Disney movies, having seen both at a formative period of my life, that I have grown up neither in an English speaking country nor with today's access to original versions of media. Imagine having a different voice in your head for Mufasa, a less dignified but rather kind-young-fatherly voice (with a performance for Scar reminding me more of James Earl Jones by the way), or not recognizing the English lyrics for Disney songs when someone references them (like the cast in Adventure is Nigh)... While "my" Darth Vader is quite comparable to "your" Darth Vader despite not answering to "James Earl Jones", the whole set of Star Wars prequel scripts and dub voices I've grown up with have given me such a different (in this case: way better!) experience than the original's audience has had... - And how do you even talk about this with someone who's grown up speaking (and hearing) English?!
