He could have said something to the director, but they’re short staffed so I want Alex to be there anyway, that might be the excuse. Or he doesn’t say anything yet and goes ahead with the contingency of his own team knowing what he’s up to. Option three is I put more tension into the situation and he doesn’t have the opportunity to tell anyone at all, but I sort of did that in the celestial rift book one with him chasing Val into the rift.
