As much as I love this audio, I can't take credit for the idea that inspired this scenario. It comes from a book I read a few months ago, called Shiver by Allie Reynolds, a locked-room mystery I devoured in one sitting (seriously, highly recommended!). In the book, the main character talks about a night many years ago where two of her male friends both gave her their room keys. One of them she has feelings for. The other, she doesn't. She chooses the one who will be just a hook-up, and it ends up impacting the story quite a bit (no spoilers, I promise!). When I read it, all I could I think about was what could have happened if someone in that situation had chosen the other option. Instead of a mystery plot, it sounded like a good romance idea, and so this audio was born. There are some characteristics that pay homage to Reynolds' original story and characters, but for the most part I just let my imagination run with the idea. I'd actually had a skiing vacation audio on my to-do list for awhile, but couldn't come up with the right scenario for it, so this worked out nicely (I think they're snowboarders or something in the book, I can't remember).
