2025-03-07 21:04:00 +0000 UTCJust brain farting a shower thought on here for fun: The odd thing about a Cliché is that it's something people avoid saying because maybe they feel "tired out" or "boring", yet their very existence is proof of their importance and relevance, which would kind of mean that it would actually be good to spread them as much as possible.... I wonder if many people really take the time to consider what a cliché is actually saying and why people can't help but to say them when they get first- hand experience of the events they're trying to describe. The Cliché mentioned in this upload is a perfect example. "It's about the journey, not the destination. This is so true in all cases down to the molecular level of how we are wired. Our brains are not actually rewarded by achieving something, the reward comes from when we're actively doing something that gets us closer to that goal in the form of dopamine and endorphins. Actually to the contrary, when we achieve something we actually have an increase of a counteracting mood regulator after the dopamine high that makes us feel just as BAD as we felt good about the thing. It's like our body rebalancing our mood in a way. That's why you often see people get pretty depressed shortly after achieving some grand life goal you would think would have them over the moon for a while. So yeah, it REALLY IS about the journey. We're motivated by action towards something, not the thing itself. I don't know, I just find it fascinating.
