And since that wall is still broken, the basement is deep in titan territory still. Basically it's hard to get to, hence why they're focusing on fixing the wall first so they don't have to go to it while titan territory surrounds it from every direction for miles.

And I'm not saying season 4 is terrible, it has a lot of awesome moments just as the rest and was cool to watch. But personally I liked season 1-3 better, even tho season 4 might have aimed higher with the writing. If you ask me, season 2 and season 3 part 2 are the best chunks of the show.
