I forgot how gripping this show is, and knowing it's based on real events, it's absolutely insane. Might I recommend the One Piece live action afterward to cleanse yourselves? Something bright and colourful 😭

Awww Bless you! You just have a big heart girl no shame!!

Absolutely not necessary to apologize for crying. That’s why we watch! The best reactors are emotionally affected. Let it out and be proud, you have empathy. 🍻

πŸ₯Ή thank you lol I’ll try to let it all out next time -Kiss

Kiss, first of all its alright. Second I think you should let the tears flow and wipe them from cheeks. straining eyes to stop tears, while watching something tense increases blood pressure. There is no such thing as ugly crying. I am a guy(35) and teared up watching this series episodes and in front of my family who do not understand English so they were not paying attention to show but were laughing at me.

Nothing to be ashamed about it’s an emotional situation and seeing your real emotions is what we want . Episodes 3-4 will be very tough aswell so be prepared 😬😭❀️

Thanks! I'll try that with the next reaction. πŸ™ƒπŸ™‹β€β™‚οΈ

Hi all, The slower/faster playback issue happens a lot with HBO reactions and I've learned this from LM Reactions watching "The Wire" (they're watching in Serbia and I'm watching in the US): The basic issue is that videos in different countries play at either 24 or 25 fps, so depending on which country you're in, it's going to play at a slightly faster or slower frame rate for you. Here is the solution: If you're on a PC, right click on the video that's playing faster and then click on "inspect". Then go to the console tab in the new window that pops up and copy paste this into it: document.querySelector('video').playbackRate = 0.95910 You may need to make some minor adjustments, but this should fix it. Hope this helps!

I'm so sorry 😭 that is super annoying for you. What a strange issue! I'll look into it a little and see if there's anything I can do, but it sounds like there might not be. Thank you Pedantech, I'm glad you've seen this as a problem before or we would be so lost!

The amount of anxiety that last scene caused was on a whole other level... definitely a real life horror "movie"! We haven't finished the series yet but the music/acting/and tone of the show are incredible. No wonder it's so highly rated!

I've heard of this being a problem in other countries that typically play a different number of frames per second for video. I don't have a solution for you, just that I've heard similar problems from people in other reactor's Patreons. I never heard any solutions beside what you were doing, which sounds annoying.

Unfortunately I still have problems to synchronize my copy (watching on prime) with yours. Yours played slower than mine, I had to stop for a second every minute or so, just so I don't run ahead of you...πŸ˜…πŸ™ˆ

Don't feel stupid or ashamed for crying, Kiss. It only shows your amount of compassion with the people involved. Besides, it was a horrible incident that destroyed a vast number of lives. If you don't feel heartache and cry over something like this, what do you cry about at all? 😊 For the shows reality, as MattN said, the science is spot on. And yes the ineptitude is played up for dramatic reasons, but not as much as you would like to believe. Groing up in a totalitarian regime for the first ten years of my life I know first hand this kind of behaviour. And this accident was so huge, so mind-boggling, no wonder they tried to deflect, lie and underplay everything. Especially in a system where the tiniest sign of resistance or stepping out of the line will immediately be punished. The world had to believe in the greatness of communism, therefore that wich must not, cannot be. And there are protocols of these meetings regarding the Chernobyl catastrophe that show that they pretty much went as described, albeit condensed to get the gist of it. At first I had a problem with the concentration on a few main characters, too. But then again you can't tell such a story on screen with several hundred scientists so it makes actually sense to represent them through only a small handful of characters, and in the end credits of the last episode they all get their deserved appreciation. So I'm fine with that. πŸ€” Initially I didn't want to write about it from fear of spoiling you, but since someone already said it: Yes the three divers survived, but everyone, including the divers themselves, were convinced they were going to their death. πŸ™ˆ And watching them wade into the darkness while their flashlights fail and the Geiger-counters go nuts was creepy as hell. For me this scene was scarier than most of the horror movies I've watched. πŸ˜±πŸ™ˆ

the scary thing about this is how recent this was. This was back in the mid 80s which, in the grand scheme of things, really isn't that long ago. this show is so good but they kind of play up the drama of ineptitude on the russian side. While there's always dumb people what the russian's did, and in such any amazing quick amount of time really should be celebrated because they really saved millions of lives. As they point out in the show this is something no one has ever faced before but they really stood up and did what needed to be done right away. What I don't really like with the show is some of the heroes in the show are actually representing teams of really brilliant scientist and engineers that came together and kicked a lot of butt to solve a problem that was not only terrifying but had devastating consequences if it went wrong. I remember learning about the accident in school and while I didn't learn any of the history around the politics of the solution, the science in this show is spot on. This is really what happened and this is how the solved it. All in all they should be commended. As to kiss, this gets me so emotional too. I understand the science behind this and what radiation does to the body and to have the courage, fortitude, and ingenuity to face death and just keep going because if you don't millions will die makes me cry too. Chat is here for you and you're wicked awesome!!

MattN

The crying isn't stupid. I've seen this show like 6 times and I still cried along with you. Some of us are just like that. The best reactions are the emotional ones.
