Lovecraft Country 1x5 - Poll!

Does D.I.E. at the end of the episode meant to spell out the word "Die" or does it have sort of other meaning?

Comments

At the end of the episode he says "well are you?". My first thought was "are you pregnant?". So my theory is that he translated something that said that his offspring must DIE. He had a relationship with a Korean woman during the war. He decided he's going to leave. She begged him to stay and she claimed that she was with child in an attempt to make him stay. He refused and left. She really was pregnant and that child is fated, by the writings, to DIE.

Its probably initials for a name or maybe an acronym?

Rae

Other meaning. I would give a witty and logical explanation as to why, but right now I’m too busy having nightmares of Ruby shoving her shoe up that guy’s ass!

I'm not sure honestly, but i hope it has some other meaning, because "die" would be too generic.

No one who speaks German could be bad!

SHolmes

Its for sure some kind of initials or similar for something. He wrote the word "Suffer" without hyphens and then wrote "D-I-E" with it, signifying it is not a single word.

Milamber Nova

Also, why would the Book of Adam just say "die". What really has me thinking hard is that he is translating the word "suffer" and then d-i-e.

Erich Bomke

It's German for THE, as in "THE BART, THE".

Rufus May

Definitely means something else. Maybe something the Korean girl said to him when things went bad between her & Tic because whatever it means it seem like he heard/read it before or was aware of the meaning

Sharrod Wolf

I think tic thinks it means Die that's why tic was freacked out but actually it has a different meaning

Dip602

I’m guessing it’s initials, but to whom they belong to I have no fucking idea

Jordan Rice

I vote for these even though I’ve never watched the show lmao. I like guessing the popular answer.

Will Cee

I thought at first that D.I.E might be a relative of Hiram Epstein, but it wouldn’t warrant his reaction to call the Korean girl... I don’t know. I’m tired. I give up.

GollyJunior

Considering he translated his initials, he thought it was chinese hieroglyphics, then we got a bit more on his Korean boo, it may be the initials of a person from that part of his life. Especially if he left on "strange terms".

It's a shopping list to help Atticus put together the first Dungeons and Dragons club
