Melron Reacts: Doctor Who 11x7 Poll!
Added 2018-11-21 14:31:10 +0000 UTCDo you think this Doctor has finally recovered from the Time War?

I think as Thirteen, the Doctor's moved on enough to face that trauma better, kind of like how Korra felt that her PTSD will always be a part of her but she can handle it better. IMO, it was Twelve who finally faced all that trauma from the Time War and the 900 year siege war in Trenzalore. Thirteen has a new kind of fear now and that's failing her new Companions because of how Twelve lost both Clara and Bill, and how Missy walked away.

2018-11-22 15:03:49 +0000 UTCThe 12th Doctor still showed signs that he was affected by the war: ''I fought in a bigger war than you will ever know. I did worse things than you could ever imagine, and when I close my eyes... I hear more screams than anyone could ever be able to count! And do you know what you do with all that pain? Shall I tell you where you put it? You hold it tight...'' - 12th Doctor (Zygon Inversion) Even though he knows he saved the timelords, but that doesnt change that he FOUGHT in the time war and did unacceptable things to people as the War Doctor. I don't know if 13th has recovered from the Time War, but 12th didn't.

2018-11-22 14:46:17 +0000 UTCI love Jodie as the Doctor, the new title opening and the amazing cinematography. But besides that, everything is a real let down. There was a lot of red flags before the season even started. Chris being the new showrunner had me worried, since the episodes he wrote previously (42, Hungy Earth, Dinosaur on a spaceship) has not really been that great. But I was hopeful seeing how great he handled Broadchurch. But what really got me worried was when he announced at comic con that: -There would be NO season arc and that EVERY episode would be a standalone story. - He'll be focusing on bringing new viewers to the show, therefore making it a ''slight reboot'' so you don't need to watch the previous seasons to follow. (which mean we probably won't hear about previous companions or the Doctor talking about the Time War etc.) - He'll only be introducing NEW monsters/villains this season, and therefore not using the old ones. (Its always cool to get new monsters, but including some of the old would be nice too) And now he has cancelled the Christmas special, because the writers (and now I qoute the article) ''ran out of Ideas'' It was mostly Russel Davies and Steven Moffat who wrote the epic and touching speeches for the doctor that we all love, I just hope Chris can fill that role and give us an epic and touching 13th doctor speech

2018-11-22 10:51:19 +0000 UTCI think after the 50th anniversary, when the Doctor found out that she didn't actually cause the genocide of her people, the burden carried by the Doctor regarding her actions in the time war has lessened. Both 12 and 13 are less affected than their predecessors because know they their planet is out there (12 even visited)

2018-11-22 03:24:33 +0000 UTCShe should be. She knows she hasn’t killed all her people, they’re still around and stuck.

2018-11-22 01:53:09 +0000 UTCI wish there was an option for not sure, it’s possible since the event of the day of the doctor show that the timelords were saved, it makes it possible for the doctor to put the memory of burning gallifrey to rest as the doctor saved it, but it’s also still possible that all the things that weren’t changed will still haunt the doctor, and to be fair, even if you know that you undid it, still knowing that you once did or were once going to commit double Genocide and still have the memory of that may never leave. We’ll need the doctor to suffer something sad to find out

2018-11-22 01:34:07 +0000 UTCNo, it'll always be there. We just need to see her put through some real emotional turmoil for all that to come back up. It's kinda like Tennant in S2. He didn't really show the effects of the time war too much in the series, mostly emphasiing how much Rode has helped him recover and how happy he is just to be alive and having fun. Then, once 10 loses Rose his character changes considerably. In S3 and 4 we really see how guilty and tormented the Doctor still is from what he went through. Instead of the happy go lucky guy from S2, 10's suffering from some kind of chronic depression from series 3 onwards. Maybe we'll see something similar with 13.

2018-11-22 00:39:49 +0000 UTCPersonally, I think she's moved on, because of the fact that she knows the Time Lords are saved to some extent. Of course, it's still an awful thing she went through though. But I'd also like to believe that she took her previous incarnations' words to heart, and doesn't linger in that metaphorical battlefield, instead focusing on, as Twelve said: "Laugh hard. Run fast. Be kind."

2018-11-21 23:43:36 +0000 UTCThe Doctor will never forget it, as demonstrated by her response about carrying the memory of her family and people with her in Episode 1. Since she saved Gallifrey things have been different as she doesn't feel so alone but the experience of the war itself will never leave her.

2018-11-21 21:10:28 +0000 UTCThe 9th, 10th, and 11th Doctors were all dealing with anger and guilt over being the last Time Lord as a result of the War, After The Doctor learned that he wasn't the Last and he had saved his planet that anger and guilt faded. The Doctor's Hate of the Daleks predates the Time War so it will always be there.

2018-11-21 20:24:34 +0000 UTCI think the doctor recovered from the time War when the day of the doctor happened and 11 who remembered what happened, had the painting told to him with gallifrey falls no more, the doctor I reckon moved on from that point.

2018-11-21 19:50:11 +0000 UTCI think the Doctor recovered from the time war a long time ago, after remembering that they didn't actually wipe out the Daleks and the Time Lords.

2018-11-21 19:42:47 +0000 UTCIt's really sad but I have no idea, we're 7 episodes in and I don't know anything about Thirteen on an emotional level. I know she likes biscuits..... and she pulls faces a lot.
Michael Harrop
2018-11-21 19:11:25 +0000 UTCShe committed genocide on all those robots (remember she told Ryan and Graham off for being racist towards them), so I'd say she still has some war Doctor in her.

2018-11-21 18:30:47 +0000 UTCShe’s totally moved on from the Time War. At least until she sees another Dalek.
Spiderfrommars
2018-11-21 18:25:40 +0000 UTCI think the resolution to that arc was in the 50th Anniversary, where he changed his history from Destroying Gallifrey to trying to save Gallifrey.
Xen Martyrzade
2018-11-21 17:52:57 +0000 UTCIt's still there, I'd think, but thanks to Moffat retconning the ending of it, the Doctor doesn't feel it as badly as she used to a few lifetimes ago.

2018-11-21 16:28:43 +0000 UTCThe Doctor moved on from The Time War when he was The Eleventh Doctor. Remember that conversation he had with himself(The Tenth Doctor) in The Day of The Doctor

2018-11-21 16:03:18 +0000 UTCI think the writers just are not keeping it in the back of their minds to the same extent as in the past. But I would be surprised if there wasn't some reference to her struggles with the Time War by the end of Jodie's time as The Doctor.

2018-11-21 15:54:02 +0000 UTCDont really know with this doctor, we haven't seen anything to suggest it's haunting her but nothing for the other way either. Btw is it just me or is the doctor very hypocritical, like for example she'd rather let the spiders suffer and suffocate to death rather than end their pain. Then in this episode she tells the companions off for being robophobic but later on forces 1000s of robots to commit suicide with no remorse at all
Adam Jones
2018-11-21 15:50:51 +0000 UTCYes, to me the that's the arc from war to 11th. War make the mistake and change the doctor. 9th learn to kind again, 10 let him have fun again and 11 learn you don't have to accept and correct his biggest mistake. It's a 400 years journey and after 11th they should be at peace with it and have moved on. They corrected it.

2018-11-21 15:25:35 +0000 UTCI believe she has in my opinion. Especially after 12's run in with the Time Lord's during Hell Bent/Heaven Sent. The Doctor knows that Galifrey is still safe out there somewhere, plus at the time he felt no guilt to do what he had to do to save Clara.
2018-11-21 15:01:36 +0000 UTCShe's definitely moved right on away from it, BUT I'd say the Time War changed her as a character, for the better, and there's definitely still some echos there in her entire personality.

2018-11-21 14:56:24 +0000 UTCI think the Doctor will always be affected by the War. But I don’t think it haunts her as much since she knows that there are still Time Lords out there. She still made the choice of putting them in the time lock so even though she didnt kill them she still sorta imprisoned them.
