I think that clothes only burn off when a speedster has reached a certain speed, and so experienced speedsters like Barry can run a speeds lower than that. Also, Iris's(and anyone else he takes places at superspeed) shouldn't have that happen because it isn't her limbs moving at that speed.

Ky McKenna

I think that Barry has learned how to manipulate the speed force to create an aura around him protecting his cloths when carrying someone he can create a larger field kind of like a force field.

Jeff Knapp

The writers just don't want us to see "sexy time" every time Barry runs with Iris haha

Markeezy

I think the writers realized that if everyone who didn't have frictionless suites had their clothes catch on fire, then Barry could never run anyone anywhere. So they were like fuck it. Let alone the implications on human skin. If it catches clothes on fire, then people's skin would at least have something similar to road rash.

Greg Alan

The Speed Force protects the user and whoever they are running with, also protects them from physical damage which is why a super powered meta doesn't kill Barry instantly like they would a normal human. So if they haven't explained that I don't remember, that's comic stuff.

Evan D.

I voted there is a reason, not because I know, but because there COULD be a reason, that as of yet has been unexplained.

Jon Dub

I thought it was all up to Cisco!!! He makes them all the neatest protective gear..am loving the FLASH!

Blake Northcott

I've always been annoyed with stuff like that. It's also annoying that normal people don't seem to feel the effects of G forces either.

Nick Ace Gundam pilot

It would look less heroic if every time Barry saved someone, they wound up a naked burns victim.

Gary B

I think the reason for this is because of the speed force. I know we use this to explain a lot in flash however I believe it created a protection shield of some sort to protect speedsters.

Thedeadman97

This is totally because of when Barry went back in time in the first season finale. Even though other flash told him not to save his mom, enough changed to where it created an alternate timeline where regular clothes don't always burn going that fast anymore lol.

Bishop_SKM

Maybe in the Supergirl episode, she just accidentally activated her heat vision out of shock and burned her boobs. Stranger things have happened...

Jordan Bradford

Maybe Cisco made them all friction resistant wardrobes? Lol

Everyone's clothes should burn cause Barry and the other speedsters had to get special suits made to stop there clothes burning. Plus Barry's shoes went on fire once when he was running in his normal clothes. I guess it's just easier for the writers not to have Barry set everyone on fire, he's called the Flash not the Arsonist.

Unhand Me Priest

I understand if Barry's clothes don't catch on fire due to the "speed force" but anyone else's clothes should at least be torn or burned up a little just to make it seem more realistic

Kyle Snyder

I believe it's because of the "Speed Force Aura" which is formed around a speedster when running at high speeds. It protects them from burning up while also allowing them to breath. Think of it as a bubble or cocoon that protects who ever is inside it.

Does anyone ells think Wally is going to be supper pissed at Berry for not telling him he was a speedster in Flash Point even though they all specifically told him they didn't want to know about their lives in the other time line?

Cheyenne Hacker

People's clothes catch on fire when the writers think it will be a good comedic beat but don't when it's inconvenient to the plot. I don't think there's any more reason for it then that. I don't actually put much more thought into it.

Cheyenne Hacker

The show is so awesome I let this one small thing go

John Lewis

Yeah I didn't feel like there was an actual explanation behind it. It was just something the show did for wardrobe convenience, and hoped that the viewers would just overlook it.
