Cowboy Bebop Episodes 1, 2 and 3

WTF👀🔥🎵💥🙋‍♂️🤜😎😱🎸

This has been a fantastic introduction to Cowboy Bebop, and here’s what stands out so far:

Other anime soundtracks are amazing in their own right, but they often stick to a specific tone or style. SO FAR Cowboy Bebop mixes it up in a way that constantly keeps me interested. Feels real nice on the ears, sheeeessssssssssssshhhhhhh🎵

Welcome in

DrumRollTony

Immediately subscribed to patreon when I found out you were reacting to Cowboy Bebop. I still listen to songs from this OST to this day.

andIJDC

Oh btw since you like rivals so much. Spike’s VA, Steve Blum, is Wolverine. He plays him in almost every animated depiction of the character

Avalon

also as to the soundtrack, if anything it gets better

Red Menace

love the 3 episode release format lol, watching the violet evergarden reaction at the same time and need something to fix the broken heart lol, also REMEMBER THE MOVIE the cowboy beebop movie should be watched between episodes 22 and 23, ill repost on teh break glass, and teh first ep, and ep 22 to remind lol

Red Menace

What an experience! This is SO fun

SimplySora

I’m so excited!

Brendan Coen

Don't blame you for that. The world was so good. Was too short

Layman's Outlook

Okay fair point. I think i just wanted more especially cause the world building was interesting but it was short.

Trowa

Triguns pacing is b a d. It takes forever to go anywhere. Its really aged and feels it and sometimes things just dont go anywhere. I love old Trigun with all my heart but it drags along terribly. Im not totally all in for the new Trigun but it fixes so many issues with og.

Trowa

It does finish, just a bit open ended, which I don't mind. Still great though.

Layman's Outlook

So sad that show ultimately just never finishes. Love it.

Trowa

I agree, main cast seems fine, but definitely prefer sub background characters over dub like in the first episode.

SKAOG

I haven't watched this show before, but was put off by the starting English dialogue. So I decided to check out the sub, and prefer it much more, especially since old Joseph Joestar's VA voices the Jet, and MC is voiced by another character that i like.

SKAOG

It’s a raunchy comedy with boobs and sex appeal. Seem like DAD level to me

Avalon

Is there a reason space dandy wouldn't be able to replace this show on this tier?

Sprucefer

Main cast is consistently pretty great but a lot of the side characters can sound really silly throughout the show imo

Sprucefer

Cowboy Bebop IS its music. It presents the cultural aspects and the world through its music. Every important moment has a sound and every world a musical landscape. The world of Bebop is so culturally diverse and expansive and each place and person will have an identity represented through music. I love Bebop a lot for ultimately being a rather somber show. To not ramble into spoilers i will say the really just human way these characters interact with not only each other but the world like its a character itself had always inspired me as a writer.

Trowa

First Charlie Parker reference in anime coming from Cowboy BEBOP…. Must be a coincidence 🤷‍♂️

Cody

Space Dandy is soooo good

Cswerve

To me this was the inevitable reaction for this channel. A matter of when, not if. It's like your anime pilgrimage Tony.

Nick K

The Big Shot horn at the start has been my notification sound for years. SHUCKS HOWDY

AntonJ0™

Why do you think so?

AsbestosDust

Haven't watched this show since I started watching anime well over a decade ago and god damn it is so nostalgic. While I'm of the unpopular opinion that Cowboy Bebop isn't this director's (Shinichirou Watanabe) best show, it's definitely still a super fun watch. And for anyone wondering, I wholeheartedly believe Space Dandy is by far the best Shinichirou Watanabe show, followed honestly probably by Kids on the Slope. Bebop is a close third though for sure.

peeps

I quite enjoyed Carole and Tuesday but it's definitely near the bottom of the list when it comes to Shinichirou Watanabe shows. Space Dandy on the other hand is one of my favorite shows of all time and as much as I love shows like Cowboy Bebop and Kids on the Slope (and all of his other shows honestly), Space Dandy is without a doubt my favorite Shinichirou Watanabe show and it's not even close. I would absolutely love to see Space Dandy on the D.A.D tier eventually.

peeps

If you like this, I think you would like Black Lagoon.

Kevin Dong

1.- This Les Claypool is awesome as well, but he's not the one from Primus. 2.- Turtle = Water Tortoise = Land (Had to learn it when buying a pet for my son) Awesome video, mate! Already looking forward to the next episodes, AND the movie!

Unbeknownst Man

Cowboy Bebop is a childhood favorite of mine, and hopefully someday you’ll check out other 90s seinen anime such as Neon Evangelion Genesis and Ghost in the Shell.

James

Every time GitS:SAC is mentioned in this community, a spark of joy is born in my soul. It whispers in my ghost.

Jet Man

When it’s finished

Avalon

oof, just oof, so good, this used to be the DEFACTO #1 recommend when someone asked what should i watch if i want to get into anime, and you can see why, also everyone who pays attention knew that the soundtrack was hook line and sinker for tony

Red Menace

Yoko Kanno is who was responsible for the music for this series. She also did the music for another great series Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex (GiTSAC). Highly recommend listening if you like her work.

DMV Makoto

As good as the dub is, I like the sub a lot better. The dub sounds like a middle school stage play sometimes

Belac

Cowboy Bebop kicks ass. Glad you're enjoying it Tony. This was one of my first ever anime

Isaac Noël

is he stopping konosuba

Red Menace

The director for this series is the same director for Kids on the Slope. The jazz connection makes a lot of sense.

Jet Man

Still one of the greatest anime to ever be released in my opinion

Cameron Sunken

There are two other anime by this creator in this universe. A hilarious comedy called Space Dandy which should 100% be on the replacement poll for Konosuba, and a very (imo) meh slice of life story about two Martian girls doing American idol basically. The music is over produced and the show is melodrama so I can’t recommend it, but Space Dandy 10000%

Avalon

Something about that old school, hand drawn, mecha/sci fi vibe always hits me hard. Cowboy Bebop was one of the first things that truly made me fall in love with anime when I was in high school back in 01. "Real Folk Blues" is one of those songs that just brings nothing but nostalgia and emotion anytime I hear it. Going to be a fun, fun ride.

Clayton Odom

Of course it doesn't have a super deep mind bending plot, but who cares, its stylish Sci fi fun and a feast for the eyes and (especially) ears

JoeyGuy7

Yea I've been coming across as a boomer, I actually like a ton of modern shows, I think we are actually in kind of a golden age, especially compared to the 2010s

JoeyGuy7

Aint no beef in the bell peppers 🫑

Jet Man

I love Trigun (1998) dearly but there is absolutely no way he's going to like that. I don't even know if he can stomach Badlands Rumble. Trigun 2023 tho. Controversial

Fuji Nami

Cowboy Bebop is really consistent all the way through, I can only think of maybe one or two episodes that I didn't like but the music and the visuals never failed

Hermit

Right overlord is cooked

makotheQ60

Yeah, animation hasn't gotten better it just changed. I like retro animation better but modern osts and the quantity we get now are superior. Like I used to be able to watch every single anime year by year and now that's impossible. Sadly however the amount of 'good' anime per year hasn't changed (like 1 or 2).

Fuji Nami

I can't believe we're comparing Cowboy Bebop to Overlord. I try not to be a snob but I mean come on! lol

Fuji Nami

Good memories of watching this on Adult Swim as a kid.

Derek

Yeaaa that's a good point

DrumRollTony

OK last thing about how great old anime is. We didn't need 30 minutes of dialouge with still frames to explain the setting plot and characters, you just know what you need to know by watching. "Show don't tell" is missing from most shows these days

JoeyGuy7

God I love Steve Blum's cool voice he definitely brings Spike to life

makotheQ60

If you're liking cowboy bebop, I hope you will consider Trigun in the future, both are classics

AsbestosDust

And the hand drawn backgrounds, nothing looks like this anymore man, I love it

JoeyGuy7

90s cel animation is sooo classic, I'm glad we are finally watching a show from this era. I just love how Sci fi ship panels etc look in this style

JoeyGuy7

Yeah he's gonna love this one lol

Owari

Yeah the soundtrack creates a real unique environment for the episodes. Same person does music for a show called Darker than black, a show which I think you might like, bit on the darker side and older with good animation. Also dub is good if I remember correctly.

Layman's Outlook

It is a pillar of Anime for a reason

Dixon Hale

I knew you'd love Cowboy Bebop, it's truly a classic and all time great in my opinion. That opening and music in the anime is legendary as always

V STAN

I knew this would be your jam, so excited to experience this again for the first time through your eyes and ears!

Zach Harding

LETS FUCKING GO
