Sorry that I actually uploaded one of this practice earlier on my twitter, because I planned to upload the finished version on my Patreon. After that I began to add details and realized this process will lead to a full-realistic style painting. Then I decide to stop and think of other painting method. (if I fail I may return to finish this work)
Being an fan-artist who is supposed to find the balance between fantasy and realism, I found this approach will rely too heavy on photo reference, and I still need to avoid just copying from the reference, because I don't actually own them. If I don't pay enough attention to refine every brush stroke or adding more values, it will become a dull copy which looks like a photo. And if I do, even a simple portrait will take a very long time to finish. Which means timewise it is almost impossible if I want to make a more complex and dynamic painting.
I just start to do another practice today. Maybe I'll post another result in next few days.
