Combat test

A change of pace. Mainly just practice to warm up for animation. I really want to do more action scenes in the future. Nicky was originally envision as a beat'em up lol. Im sharing the files with this one why not.

Nicky is actually an extremely proficient fighter too! Two perfect dodges, a jab to counterhit, a straight cross to the stomach to get the arms to drop, then roundhouse to the head. Nicky usually fights southpaw so for the roundhouse she switched her stance with a switch kick to get the better angle. Fairly interesting footwork to animate lol. No hesitation on the mount and then flurry. When you are short all the offense matters.

I like animating this style cause I have really discrete control of all the timings. I don't do full limited animation like this all the time cause you do have to keyframe everything manually instead of relying on interpolation, which I mostly do. If you don't know what you are doing its really easy to lose all the fluidity of your animations, and well blender doesn't have onion skinning yet. The roundhouse was by far the hardest thing to time, especially selling the impact. The timing felt off until I realize I just wasnt holding on the static frames enough to build up emphasis on the swing. A good chunk of hitstop will also help. This is actually the first time I ever animated two characters fighting and reacting to each other so its defs a new experience for me. I wanted to do something different cause I felt I been getting bore of animation. Originally this was suppose to be a full bar fight with multiple people but baby steps, animating 2 characters is already tough lol.
