What an incredible episode. The engaging direction, incredible artwork/animation, perfect sound design, all aspects of the show is firing on all cylinders. Let's talk a bit about this episodes staff. The episode was directed by Yuzuru Tachikawa, who later directed hit series such as Death Parade, Mob Psycho, and Deca-Dence most recently. He's one of the best directors in the industry today. Trusting him with this episode was a really excellent decision of the production team. The storyboard was provided by Takuya Satou, the director of the series (alongside Hiroshi Hamasaaki). He's known also to be an audiophile, and pays close attention to sound design, which is why this series does such a good job when it comes to that. He once said that while Hamasaaki was in charge of the "look" of the series, he was in charge of how it "sounds". Even though he is known for being proficient in the sound department, his visual efforts are just as strong. This storyboard is filled with creative framing, great cinematography, and excellent pacing. And we have to talk about the animation direction as well. The Animation Director for this episode was none other than the character designer himself, Kyuta Sakai, and his corrections are just so so strong. There's not a single off model drawing in this entire, extremely important episode. The reason he was able to provide animation direction here was because of good scheduling and smart planning, and it really really pays off. It seems like this episode was given the red carpet in the production, and the result was excellent.
