In these self-portraits, I sought to display the striking juxtaposition of solitude and introspection against the backdrop of a bustling cityscape. These images capture a personal moment of contemplation amidst an overwhelming urban environment.
Over the past year, I've traveled a lot alone. I've visited isolated Greek islands and small villages with only a few inhabitants. Interestingly, the only time I felt solitude was in New York City. Despite being one of the biggest cities in the world, it was there that I experienced a profound sense of loneliness.
As an introvert, I genuinely enjoy spending time alone, finding peace and contentment in my own company. However, in the heart of NYC, surrounded by millions of people, I felt an unexpected sense of isolation. This paradox of feeling lonely in a crowded place has intrigued a lot of my work since.
I do believe, however, that solitude can also be a time for self-discovery and reflection, essential for mental well-being. It's moments like these that remind us of the importance of creating personal sanctuaries and fostering meaningful connections.

It’s fascinating how we can emerge stronger from situations that initially seem overwhelming. Looking back, it's hard to imagine how I would have felt if I had known what awaited me in NYC before leaving Greece. Sometimes, it's the unpredictability of these moments that makes them so impactful ✨️

It’s often those situations of discomfort or surviving fear that people grow stronger, but crazy how you never know when the situations will arise.
