Important Update
Added 2023-05-29 00:50:54 +0000 UTCHey guys, just wanted to touch base on a couple of things. Progress has been smooth on both Witches Going Live and Breeding Madness. I've already mentioned I started an outline for Coye 7, but don't expect me to finish that any time soon. Mainly because I'm working on other stuff, but also because I want to take time to figure out how I want to proceed with it. Not story-wise but production-wise. After 7 chapters of WGL and 3 of BM, I'm getting really comfortable having others do my drafts. I don't think there's been any dip in quality, and the final result of those chapters have been indistinguishable from my work on Coye. If possible, I don't really want to proceed on a story where I have to write my own drafts again. I'd much rather keep doing what I'm doing now and create really intricate outlines and have the roughs done by someone else.
My co-writer on BM is faster than the one on WGL- not an insult toward him, just a fact- so I might have her working on Coye as well onve we're further along.
Another reason I'm hesistant to move forward is money. I'm about to have a really bad month because my royalties are only $500, and the other day my bank account got to nearly -$100 overdraft because I wasn't paying close enough attention. Both of my draft writers are fairly cheap so that isn't the issue here, I had a lot of bills and two sick dogs in a row and things were very stressful. Overall though I'm just sick of my current lot in life and it's motivating me to try a little harder on a certain front.
Most of you guys know I was an artist before I was a writer, and I just grew increasingly unhappy with it. I'm going to be taking some time to force myself to do some character design work a bit more often- mostly for close friends who understand my situation and will be patient with me. All of the characters I make for my friend Urban will be tied to my setting and writing at least, not sure about others yet. If this sounds interesting to you feel free to let me know and we can maybe talk about making you a character. Prices start at $60 but weapons and accessories and junk like that is extra.
I need more immediate money because on top of living expenses, there's just so much holding me back right now. I need a few hundred to have all of the WGL references completed, even more to pay him for commercial use of all the BM and WGL refs, money to pay my cover artist for commercial use, money to get more promotional art for my series, andI can't ever progress on any audiobook development because funding, and it's all just frustrating me beyond belief.
So I'm going to be taking advantage of the extra time I have from not having to write my own drafts and try and grind out some character design commissions. I'm saying upfront though that Coye will take a momentary dip in priority because of this, at least until one of the other projects is completed and I have time to go in and make the outline.
If it feels like I'm overly trying to stress that Coye isn't being dropped its because I'm afraid some of you will think it will be a repeat of RotGM. I dropped that one because it was very unsustainable and full of plotholes from the webnovel release format and draining on me, but that isn't the case with Coye. I'm still actively thinking about new ideas for Coye, still actively lining up art and artists for it, still promoting it, all that good stuff. It's going to remain my flagship title and nothing is changing that.
I hope everyone understands where I'm at and the decisions I'm making atm a little better. I'll post a wip of the design I'm working on in a minute to show you all.
