Getting Your Opinion on Something Important!

So my writing career has been going pretty well, all things considered.  I’m making decent money for having just started out and I’m more  motivated than ever to keep writing and keep making amazing new  characters and stories, not just for Rise of the Guild Master, but as a  whole for my new fantasy setting it takes place in.

There is a nagging concern thus far, though.

I went with the amazon store structure because it favors short stories  that are fast and easy to write. You can make a lot of money when you  have hundreds of books out and you get lots of royalties. But after  starting Rise of the Guild Master, I’ve kind of fallen off this format  without meaning to.

Now I’m writing novellas with multiple chapters and mixing of sex,  comedy, action, adventure, drama and slice of life Progression Fantasy  all at once. This is far from what you’re supposed to be doing on kindle  to succeed lol.

Kindle rewards authors who can pump out 1-2 short stories every week,  and the more bloated your catalogue becomes the more money you can build  up as more and more people discover you and read your massive backlog  or buy your collected editions.

Part of me wants to publish Rise of the Guild Master publicly on places like Literotica and Webnovel to address a few problems.

Rise of the Guild Master is something new from me. I’m primarily known  as an artist with a great sense of humor, but not many of my fans are  likely to just jump onto a new property of mine in a medium I’m not  known for if there’s a paywall. MHFAP! Never got far enough to show off  my more serious writing chops and while we’ll get there someday, it’ll  be a long time until that happens.

So I’m thinking that I need more public examples of my work, and since  Rise of the Guild Master has evolved past the format for that’s  typically successful on the Amazon e-book store I think it might be  better to use it as an ongoing example of my writing skills, and I’ll  still be able to profit from it. I can link my Patreon where I post it,  and can start to build a name for myself not just as an artist but a  writer.

Also as a side note I’m still drawing stuff lol. Just this week I  designed the next two main characters of Rise of the Guild Master, and  boy were they challenging. But it’s spoilery so I can’t post it. I’m an  artist AND a writer. I can’t separate the two.

Another main thing about switching Rise of the Guild Master to public is  that I can then start doing things chapter by chapter and not worrying  about binding them to a book and such. This would allow me to start  doing like, a Rise of the Guild Master chapter today, a short story I  can sell on Amazon the day after, and so on. Versus, ok I need to do 5  more chapters of Rise of the Guild Master and then I can do a short  story... but ah I just left off on a big cliffhanger and I really wanna  start the next book...!!

So not only would Rise of the Guild Master be a promotional tool, if  public it would allow me to get back on track with my original plan of  creating a huge backlog of short stories on Amazon. Plus it opens up  more possibilities, as if there’s a growing readership for Rise of the  Guild Master then if I wanted to make a side story chapter about Sam and  Master, there would be more people willing to buy it.

I’d have to de-list the first two books from Amazon because of their  whole Kindle Select exclusivity shit, so if I want to post it elsewhere  it’d need to be deleted. But I was already planning on eventually  selling collected editions with rewrites, corrections and extended and  added scenes so this would probably make it a lot less confusing for  when that does happen.

If I do end up doing this I’d offer refunds to the people who bought the  first two books if they wanted it. I’m sure most people wouldn’t though  as most of the people who have read it thus far are in my inner circle  but I don’t want to punish my fans for me rushing into things and not  thinking about the best avenue for this venture. It’s a recurring habit  of mine and I can only apologize for it.

Also I’m really sick of explaining to people you don’t need a Kindle to read it. It’s an app. lol.

I’m asking for your feedback, folks, I don’t know if I’m going to do  this yet but I think I’ve made a pretty compelling argument for why this  makes sense logistically. But please let me know your thoughts!
