He killed or maimed half the population of The Republic of Congo during his colonial reign over the country. Leopald ran The Congo as his own private land and extracted its wealth mainly rubber. If the natives missed their quotas then the military would make up for the missed quotas by collecting the hands of the people in the village.

Its tight yet breathable length makes it more accessible than MM&TBS, for example. Just an outstanding album. When you have time, can you please re-upload your reaction to Tetsuo & Youth? I haven't watched it in a long while and wanted to revisit your reaction.

2022-07-01 20:53:07 +0000 UTCHonestly, I think Lupe stopped trying to make music for the masses a long time ago. I also think that's a good thing, because he seems much happier for it. Being free from label meddling has finally allowed him to create art the way he wants.

I definitely feel what you're trying to come to grips with about his music, I feel like I've done that with albums like Lupe, or Ka, etc. and it's just a different type of vibe when you're listening. A lot of songs, you get it the first time, and you relisten to enjoy that experience again. With crazy lyricists, you relisten to enjoy the musicality, but also to pick up new meanings and lines each time, and that's part of why I enjoy this so much and it has so much replay value for me.
