This episode has the closest occurrence(at least that I noticed) of Frieren admitting what she feels toward Himmel, which you picked up on. βHimmel is the reason I decided Iβd get to know people. Like your reason for defending this village.β Voll is defending this village for his wife, the woman he loved. Very interesting that Frieren made that comparison. Also, this episode might explain why Himmel never blatantly told Frieren how he feels. Perhaps he was worried about the toll of loving a human who is so short lived in comparison, after seeing how Voll felt about his wife.
