RM - “MONO” | Our Reaction! (PART 1)
Added 2022-12-08 22:00:04 +0000 UTC
ARMY, you didn’t tell us that “mono” was THIIIIIS good. Well, maybe you did…
This “playlist” was an EXPERIMENTAL MASTERPIECE.
According to BTS Wiki, Mono (stylized as mono.) is the second mixtape (and first playlist) by RM. It was released on October 23, 2018 with "Forever Rain" serving as the mixtape's title track.
When “tokyo” first began playing, we knew we were in for something special. This was the PERFECT intro song. Unique. Experimental. Gripping.
“seoul” transported us halfway around the globe. RM made us see, smell and hear his hometown. This was a beautiful and melodic tune that everybody can relate with…we all know that feeling that develops after living in the same place for too long: LOVE/HATE.
RM began to SPIT on “moonchild.” Perhaps Jordan’s favorite track on the playlist, “moonchild” was a glimmer of hope. An uplifting and inspirational song for those who thrive and come alive in the nighttime.
🎵“We're born to be sad, sad (whoa-oh), sad, sad Suffer to be glad, glad (whoa-oh), glad, glad🎵
“badbye” was a never-ending cry for help. We weren’t sure if RM made an appearance on this track, or if eAeon sang the entire time.
All good, uh-geut, “uhgood.” This was the rawest, most vulnerable, introspective track yet. It reminded Jared of a life-changing conversation he had back in college with a mentor. We must go through our hurricane.
“everythingoes” grabbed us with two hands, shook us and flooded our minds with certainty…whatever you are dealing with, “it shall pass”!!
The last track, “forever rain,” encouraged all of us to embrace the rain. Befriend the rain. DANCE in the rain.
🎵Slow rap, slow jam, slow rain, everything slow. 🎵
Overall, this playlist was 10X better than our initial expectations. 10X BETTER!! An unbelievably compact, digestible, and meditative experience that we’ll undoubtedly be turning to again in the future.
ARMY, STAY TUNED FOR PART 2!! And let us know what you think about our “30-second rapid analysis” format! Should we keep it going? Also, what was your experience like listening to “mono” for the first time?
As always, we truly appreciate your love and support (WE’LL CONTINUE SAYING THIS UNTIL THE END OF TIME). Your subscription allows us to produce higher-quality reaction videos, and moves us closer to our goal of doing this full-time! Let us know if you have any questions, feedback, thoughts, etc. at any time! BORAHAE!! 💜💜
I loved your 30 second bursts of feelings. Also, I know I am late, but I am sorry to hear about your friends passing 💜💜

You guys are incredible human beings.
Maybe one day I'll have the opportunity to have a long conversation with you. Or, in a more common word (that does not fits the real meaning that is in my head), I'll be able to interviewed you.
I'm sorry, I just had some beers looking at your reaction and I feel overwhelmed to the fact that MUSIC, BTS, ART... have a powerful and magical way to bring people together. To bring in your life the human beings that you need, the support that you need. Even if it's in front of a screen. Even if it's just for a small moment.
Feeling related to something/someone. This is special. This can be life changing for lot of people.
It can come from a special quote (that 'strangely' fits all the mood of a mixtape) and what it means to you... A hurtful experience that you've been through... A feeling, a memory that a song made you reminisce...
Thank you always for the sincerity that you put on your reactions.
Ps: Sorry, English isn't my native language, and if you combine a beer or two to it, I can go all over the place ^^'
Take care ! 🌻

Another great reaction. I’m glad you chose to react to Mono first before listening to Indigo. Since it just recently became available on Spotify, I’ve recently heard a few songs off this playlist. So happy and glad to experience and listen to the whole playlist with you both. The whole playlist is so good. Can’t wait to see your deep dive reaction to all the songs on part 2.
Have a beautiful weekend boys. See you on the next reaction.💜

For some reason I cannot vote for December Bonus but I’ll give my thoughts here. I’m newer ARMY. Since April of this year. My opinion is you should wait to do PROOF or any of the newer songs off there till later. I appreciate you trying to go from the beginning. So much of proof deals with their past and to really appreciate, especially the videos, you need to know the past. You will appreciate it so much more. Even the title of the album is rooted in the past. Early on RM was videotaped reading horrible commits about him and the others. He looked up and said I will prove it to you. PROOF does indeed prove their talent. It is not needed, we all know how amazing they are, to show their haters.

To me Mono feels like you’ve locked yourself in a dark room your whole life, but this album instead of forcing the door open, RM sits with you in the dark room, holds your hand and tells you “You’re not alone” until you feel like you can open the door yourself.

Mono feels like home to me, I know that sounds strange to some people but I found that when I listen to this mixtape, I can just be all of me, whether that's sad, contemplative or just a little tougher/stronger. This whole mixtape is full of amazing beats and lyrics and raw emotions that are highly relatable. I can't listen to one song and not the others, it's a whole experience, much like Indigo. Although, my two favorite tracks are Moonchild and Forever Rain, which was my number one song on Spotify Wrapped. I’m not lying when I say that my favorite part of your reactions is when you both realize something, when you connect the dots and both of you can’t stop yourselves from dropping your foreheads on the mic or in your hands. Thank you for showing some love to this masterpiece.

I've been waiting for this!! Thank you so much I really enjoyed this reaction and I can't wait for you to get to Indigo you're going to love it. When you do get to it please also watch the 'Indigo' Album Magazine Film. Namjoon talks about his thought process and explains the meaning behind each song and the lyrics. All of the people that contributed to the album also give their thoughts. it's 41 minutes long but I think it's interesting and watching this would be really helpful. here's the link if you decide to watch it: https://youtu.be/lRy8OYhLO-A 💜💜

mono is a warm hug on a rainy fall day. The brilliance of Joon's lyricism, plus his experimentation with different sounds and beats make it so special. He is a one-of-a-kind artist. I cannot WAIT for you guys to check out INDIGO. It is phenomenal. Absolutely phenomenal. It builds on what he did with mono, but is its own unique album.
When you check it out, make sure to check out the Indigo Album Magazine Film (https://youtu.be/lRy8OYhLO-A). It goes track by track with RM and the collaborating artists. Genius. AND MS ERYKAH BADU!!!! The Queen of neo-soul herself. When that track list dropped, I actually yelled when I saw her name. My little 90s heart almost exploded. I love how Joon always goes with his gut and has such a clear vision for what he wants. He is so special. *internal fangirling as I'm at work* Borahae, J&J! <3 Amy

Honestly, this mixtape came out for me when I was in high school. And I remember a lot of hard times in high school. But also a lot of good times. As is life at any moment. But I remember actually begging my creative writing teacher to let our class do an analysis on one of the songs from this. We ended up listening to Tokyo, and I remember just being so happy I could share it. Even if no one else would like it, I remember being so grateful to share it, and to talk about it. About how maybe the Pinocchio in a poncho is a metaphor for being a liar. An obvious one. And how that might have been him not long ago as he says. (Rm) and how one day we all SHOULD be ashes. Not everyone will be. I really have always loved RM’s solo works. It’s always spoke so deeply to me. I know one of the ones that spoke the most to me at times was Uhgood, and Always. Always is something I listen to on my darkest days to know someone felt the way I did too. And that it was ok. I love how raw RM makes his lyrics at times. All that iq, all to make music that people can resonate with. Myself included. I look forward to part 2. And, I’ve been waiting eagerly for Indigo reaction. Even holding back on lyrics and everything so we can understand it together. Very excited 💜👍🏻🙏🏻🥹

I really love this album. It makes you vulnerable but it won't let you just be in that state. Mono. provides comfort, while you are in your most weakest self. It will remind you that although you are alone, someone out there understands you. RM in mono. is such a vibe, but I think you will appreciate RM more in Indigo. For me, Indigo exudes confidence. The RM in Indigo is someone who is so sure of what he does. I feel the sincerity of him, how he sings, raps, even in how he pronounces lyrics. I just felt like I already met him even though we never met. I got to know him in a very different level.

It‘s so crazy to me that RM recently said that there are some songs in Mono he is still very proud of and some which he would like to dump and never see again. That‘s probably a normal process as an artist because you just grow out of some songs of yours. But I saw an Army on Twitter say „I‘m glad that he is not in that dark space anymore but I‘m still here and I need him to say those words to me.“
I‘m convinced that every single song of this album saved at least one life. Just because someone felt understood and chose to stay because of his words.
That is why this mixtape is so important to us.
My favorite song of Mono is „Forever Rain“. It always calms me down when I had a rough day. 💜
Edit: omg that quote from the funeral. It is a part of my life since I was like 13 or so. Wow!
Hope you‘re doing okay! Loved the 30sec reactions. Mono is just so good.

So much has been said about how important this piece of work was and continues to be to many people. I first listened to this on a bus ride during a work trip and kept repeating it, and so many times in the past few years, I just listened to it under the covers, feeling every single word and beat. I still cry every once in a while (but like he said, "it's okay to shed the tears, but don't you tear yourself.")
That's what this mixtape is, and why it is a playlist - it's the one thing you want with you during your darkest days to validate what you're feeling but also say that things are going to be okay, someday. I'm so glad you listened to this the way you did (I liked the 30-second rapid fire analysis!) and I hope you find comfort in this, too. You've shared about your loss and we fans thank you just as much for letting yourself be vulnerable to and with us :)
With that said, if it's experimentation and spitting and unpredictability you want... Indigo serves that. Our deep dive hasn't stopped, and I love that RM keeps giving us content such as lives and interviews. He's proud of it as he should be. It's a fantastic album and I can't wait for you to get into it, too. Thank you for all that you do, Jared and Jordan <3 keep safe and I'm sorry for your loss.

you saying you love how experimental it is…oh boy just wait till you get to indigo. appreciating how he chooses to start and end the mixtape both lyrically and sonically…admiring how introspective he allows himself to be….oh boy just WAIT till you get to indi—
2018 was a really difficult year for bts.
towards the end of this year in an award show during their artist of the year speech, they all broke down and confessed disbandment had been a real possibility. to this day i remember the exact feeling of watching it live and crying with them lool. i’d just come home from work and i cried for two hours straight. i think half of us feeling really emotional was because we didn’t know just how hard they were struggling.
for fans who were with them in real time and watched how they broke into the american industry and everything that came after, i think it was easy for us to be swept up in it all and not think for a moment just how terrifying this time really was for bts. namjoon has talked before about how he wasn’t given any media training for these american interviews; he was only 23/24! it goes without saying that along with western “recognition” came a whole load of racism and xenophobia. (to this day but that’s a different convo). leading questions to try and catch them out. belittling their success to 15 yr old fan girls’ obsession. hardly any interviewer paid attention to their actual music and message. it was really sad and frustrating.
namjoon handled it all as best as he could’ve without any prep beforehand. i will never get tired of reiterating just how proud i am of him. they were all so young!
in terms of how this relates to mono though…we have to recognise this man was under the immense pressure of leading his team down a road no one from their industry has gone down before whilst at the same time being representative of his country. there was no one to guide them, no senior to turn to and ask for advice. they only had each other. the heights they were propelled towards…they’d never set their eyes on in the first place. they wondered if they could go any further or if they should accept it as their peak and stop then. a very difficult time for them all indeed, and especially their leader.
indigo makes us understand that this burden still cuts deep, and it took a long time for it to be fathomed and made sense of.
i feel selfish in saying i’m glad they continued to where they are now, but they were all pivotal for making my 2018-2022 years better.
you mentioned at the start how many records can someone possibly make, and it does seem like with bts the list keeps on going. but reality is these are all records they made in spite of so many unnecessary obstacles in their way (some passive aggressive, some directly sabotaging attempts); rooted in different things but all of which boil down to not wanting to recognise bts for the impact they have. whether it’s their own country or internationally, somehow it’s hard on a lot of big people to accept them for what they’ve done, because that means they will have to admit that bts got to where they are now organically, without any dirty tricks or shady deals. without any media play. without selling out their values for a swifter elevation. (taehyung’s said so before they could’ve gone higher a lot faster if they wanted to but that would be a) cheating and b) not who bts are as ppl). and i guess for us fans, it’s about giving them a new record again and again in hopes that it’ll help in making them actually untouchable. in hopes that it’ll force the industry to acknowledge them and pay them the respect they deserve.
back to the reaction, i honestly kept it together until uhgood played and then the tears came. that song will always get to me because the lyrics are so vulnerable. as will everythingoes. like i’ve said before, mono is namjoon’s outstretched hand as a gesture of understanding. and i think it hits harder coming from someone you already admire and look up to. you feel seen.
usually with releases, namjoon will do a live after where he breaks down every track lyrically and tells us his inspiration etc. with mono, he never did. said it’s ours now, up for our own interpretation. to give up something so personal so easily… to take experiences we will never go through and make it universally touching. we need more artists like him.
these themes of craving normalcy and that the only way out is through are continued in indigo which makes a lot of sense to me.
he is still in the spotlight and that is still how surviving life is.
anyway, looking forward to the lyrical breakdown!
a.

Im not usually a crier but for some reason this got me. Thank you guys for always being so raw and open in your reactions. I love it so much and I really appreciate your honesty. Honestly this album came out when I was finishing up my last year of university, at a time where I truly wanted to drop out. It took everything in me to finish that last semester, and this album truly got me through some reaaaally tough times. I cant even begin to explain in real words what Namjoon did to my Seoul (😉) with this masterpiece. I cant wait for part 2 💜💜

Hi J&J hope you and your family is doing good💜 Stay warm and don’t catch a cold. I was travelling with Mono during a phase of my life and the entire album seems so personal. I was in a 9-5 working and those days felt so numb redundant and monotonous. Listing to mono everyday for a whole year while travelling to and fro from office to home was a routine and i was only feeling numb and this album was my best friend who was feeling the same things as me. My personal favourites are Bad Bye, Uhgood, seoul, moon child and everything goes! The entire album is a masterpiece and this album is associated with a party of my life. It’s like an archive which RM gifted me to make these memories with him as life goes on !!

everythingoes is my favorite song on this mixtape. it's been helping me through so much hurt and gives me another reason to keep going in life. I've had depression (professionally diagnosed) since i was 12 years old, I'm 20 now and it's still a battle everyday. i got "everythingoes" tattooed on my wrist as a reminder that one day i will get through this and i will find happiness although it might be tough I'll be happy one day. this song just left such an impact in my life, someday in the future when i have children and they're going through a tough time in their life I'll play them this song and let them know everything will pass.

I remember the day mono first came out it was raining and where I live it never rains. It definitely set up the mood bc it stayed that way the entire week. Everythingoes is my comfort song it’s been a song I’ve turned to all these years when times are hard. Just last year I was in a really sad place with my anxiety and this song helped me so much it has a special place in my heart and I hope to be able to get a tattoo of it one day. So excited to see you guys dive deep on the lyrics, personally it’s one of my favorite parts of any bts album listening experience. Take care guys 🫶

I remember reading an Army post at one point that mono. feels like Joon sitting with you when your stuck in a dark room - but instead of pushing you out he just holds your hand and supports you until you can open the door to exit that dark place yourself. It’s honestly one of the best descriptions of mono. I’ve ever read. Mono. is RM making himself vulnerable and working through his own darkness and telling us he understands. I gain so much comfort just knowing that others out there understand how I’m feeling at my lowest points; and rather than giving platitudes they support you until you can save yourself and that’s exactly what RM did in mono.
A suggestion for you!! Once you’ve reacted to Indigo watch Suga’s new video ‘Suchwita Episode 1’! Suchwita is Yoongi’s new series where he sits down, drinks, and talks with various guests! There’s only the first episode released right now, and in it he sat and talked with Namjoon about making music and specifically RM’s experience making Indigo, and how he had grown since releasing mono. It’s only 30 minutes long, but it’s phenomenal just listening to them - two people who love and respect both what they do and one another. Here’s the link: https://youtu.be/KN9gQBb4up0

Thank you both so much! I’m so glad you guys decided to react to Mono first, it shows so much of Joon’s soul at the time and it prepares you for what Indigo will show you. A new Namjoon, because nothing stays the same. I can’t wait for your guys reaction to it!
I honestly still think Mono will is my favorite of RM’s 3 solo works. It just speaks to me.💜 And I can’t wait for pt. 2 of this reaction.

Mono is such an experience, it gives you room to breathe and reflect. Thanks for sharing some of your vulnerability, this mixtape will always provide healing. I can’t wait until you get to Indigo, remember to leave expectations below the floor we have more sounds that you may have not heard from RM coming 😉 Also don’t forget to check out his explanation of the album here including some commentary from majority of collaborators - https://youtu.be/lRy8OYhLO-A

I haven't scrolled through all the comments just yet, but in case no one has mentioned it, RM is definitely in BadBye - if you listen carefully you clearly hear his voice in the second "kill me kill me softly kill me kill me softly kill me kill me softly shatter me into little pieces" - it's such a haunting, beautiful song :( This whole playlist still gives me chills

Yeah, I think that’s important to note. He grew up in a more slow paced place and moved to the capital city. That’s why the lyrics mention “I’m afraid of myself because I’ve become a part of you” and question Seoul, “what soul do you have?” too. It’s that perspective of moving away from home and into a big city.

Hey guys, amazing reaction. I kind of realized in the middle of this that we always share our experiences and thoughts with you, and that you are always asking to hear our stories, but we may not always reciprocate. I hope you guys feel comfortable opening up to us someday, and that you read us your stories the same way you read ours. Mono is a special playlist for many reasons, and I am not one to say something saved my life, but in a time where i felt it hurt too much to lean on someone, this album was who i could turn to. One of my favourite lines is "Instead of telling you cloudy expressions like "stay strong", i'll tell you this wind will pass like all wind does." I always felt saying stay strong was dismissive to what I was going through. RM gave me a new expression that acknowledged the pain, and also reassured that at the end, I would be okay. That life is a constant fight, there will be many more winds, some gusts stronger than others, but it will pass. This work is timeless. I encourage you both to listen to the album again on your own time, by yourselves whenever you feel too weak or too scared to talk to someone. Because that is okay too.

Ohh MA lord you guys are in for an awakening, when you get to indigo. I respectively did not think there would be a better solo album to top mono for me personally. Mono was already giving 100% and as Joon grows, the quality and authenticity of his life and words get even better. Now that indigo is out, its like taking that 100% and goes straight to 1000%.

It’s so interesting how you guys said that you have to go through the storm and come out of it. I saw a video a few weeks ago explaining something similar about buffalos… I know buffalos… lol Well buffalos are known to absolutely hate water, they despise it. As they evolved through time, whenever buffalos see rain clouds, they learned to automatically walk towards the storm because the faster they get to the storm, the less amount of time they have to be in it. If they walk away from it, they prolong their suffering and walk with the storm. Moral of the story, we should always confront hard times head on to avoid prolonged suffering. We can all learn something from buffalos! Love you guys and your videos!! 💜💜💜 RM IS A GENIUS!

i love when it rains too there is just something soothing about it. I always open the window or just sit and look at the rain. the only time it´s not welcoming is when i am cycling, because i wear glasses so I can´t see anything. i love all of the songs on this album also the new album.
but i think mono is more on the same flow, indigo has many different genres and styles.

I'm so glad ya'll enjoyed this, and I can't wait to see the digging episode hehe. Every night I fall asleep to these songs, and they were also my comfort back when I was in a very bad place in life. And even with yall's situation, you can see how sometimes BTS really does find you when you need it! If I'm ever lucky enough to meet RM I'll tell him he saved my life with this album. Thank you guys for really taking this seriously and soaking it all in -- sometimes reactors just blaze through mono and don't get it at all, so it's great to watch you guys, as always! <3

To speak for only 30 seconds it was a valiant effort and of course the depth of RM's music made it difficult. RM's music fills you with so much. RM's music moves you, causes you to think, causes introspection. RM's music causes you to do... or to stop, wait, take a breath, before continuing. RM's music gives me the courage to look at myself without fear knowing I will become happier, stronger, calmer, focused, intentional. I will grow and become a better me. One bar can contain a book's worth of wisdom. You can write a thesis on RM's music and still feel like you haven't said enough. RM's music speaks to our fears, hopes, dreams, our souls. Rambling? I don't see it as rambling. Listening to RM's music often awakens a passion within us. Sometimes we try to find the right words to describe this passion and feel the words we use fall short. Our descriptions inadequate. So no J&J I don't see it as rambling you're just trying to express what is sometimes inexpressible. I've been in ARMY for some years now. But watching your reactions it's like I am learning about BTS all over again I've discovered so many new things and I'm falling in love with them all over again. The dynamic between you two brothers is so beautiful and hilarious. I have yet to see another channel that goes into the depth that you do. You have a wonderful format so keep up the good work your reactions long or short are always worth the time. 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜 💜💜

Hey Jared and Jordan! "Alright, okay." This is going to be a long post. I will begin by saying "sorry bae," because I was wrong. I was one who said, skip "Mono." You've heard enough of RM to know his rapping style. Go straight into "Indigo." I even had people agree with me. Boy was I wrong. I became Army in 2020 during the Pandemic because of their song "On" which literally was the turning point of a bad experience that I was in. I feel the same thing about RM's second mistake "Mono." It has literally saved me from myself. I am soooo glad you didn't listen to me. This is an example of how people stop their blessings just by being to quick. Take it slow as RM says in one of the songs on this mix tape. I got a lot of ideas by listening to his songs and by listening to your reactions to this masterpiece. Like I said, I joined Army in 2020. I've seen every movie, docu series, every episode of Run BTS, Bon Voyage and In the Soop. Their Winter and Summer packages, but I've never listened to their mix tapes in totality. I've heard songs here and there. I'm so glad that I experienced this for the first time with you. As a teacher by profession and Poet by heart. His songs and your reactions to this mix tape has inspired some serious poetry. I can't thank you enough. I have listened to "Indigo." I can't wait to see your reaction to it because RM is going to blow you guys away for sure. I do have a very small spoiler. The person who did the video of things missed in Jin's music video for "The Astronaut," also did a video called "Things you've missed in "Indigo." I almost went back to my original comments to tell you that I was wrong because one of the things that she says is some songs in Indigo answers some songs in Mono. Remember that RM did it before with another song that you all pointed out. I was blown away. I was more eager to hear Mono after watching that video. It will be a good bridge between "Mono" and "Indigo" if you would watch that video first. RM has sooo much content out right now on "Indigo" that he's spoiling us. RM is amazing!!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!! I love you guys and I will continue to support you. Borahae 💜

mono is my comfort album. it came out during a time when i needed it most bc i was in a dark place. i felt so lost in life and it seemed like nobody cared. then along came this album. the day is came out i remember it was raining and i decided to listen to it in my car and just let myself sob. something i hadn’t let myself do before because i didn’t want to seem weak. it was so comforting. i felt like i could breathe for the first time in months. it felt like joon was sitting there holding my hand while i let it all out. like he was saying it was okay to feel this pain, that’s a part of life, but to remember that it’ll get better. it always does. even just listening to it now with you guys had me close to tears (life’s been hard lately). i love this album so so much. i always go to it when i feel like i need extra help getting through something. it has never once failed me. now, i can say the same for indigo but it’s an entirely different feeling. i love it just as much but for different reasons that i’ll get into when y’all get there.

I think you guys were destined to find BTS. There’s no way these things are coincidences. I hope you’re both okay after the funeral of your close family friend. When Jordan read the quote he grabbed, I got goosebumps. Mono just as anything with BTS finds you when u need it. I believe the universe works in ways we will never understand but that gave me goosebumps. Not to mention the tassel clipped to it is PURPLE. I hope Mono can bring you both some comfort in whatever in life may weigh on your shoulders, no matter what it is.
Much love and support always💜

Ah you’re in the studio after your friends funeral, of course you are. 🤗🤗🥺🥺 Badbye, really is there such a thing as “Goodbye “, that which we say when really we hope it’s not for the last time. I think you’re looking back to Blue and Grey referring to wanting rainy days, cloudy sunless days. I like this softer side of Namjoon. This flows for me like a sad, introspective day through the night, alone with your thoughts when you can only be with yourself.
Much love 🤗🤗💜💜🇨🇦

Where do I even start. I don’t even know. Mono is a masterpiece and it’s a piece of work that will forever be a part of me. I never knew I could love something as much as I love this mixtape (playlist). Uhgood and forever rain are my favorite songs. Uhgood is my fav song of all time. It’s been with me through everything. When I’m sad, I go to my room, put my headphones in, and listen to Uhgood. When I’m happy I listen to Uhgood. When I’m content I listen to Uhgood. When I’m lonely, alone, drowning. It’s always there. Mono is always there. Namjoon is always there. I didn’t know how to put my emotions into words until I found Mono. I resonate with the entire mixtape on a level I didn’t think was possible. I used listen to Mono every single night to sleep for almost a year, if not a year. It was my go to while walking on campus in college. In a sense, I feel like I wouldn’t even be who I am in this very moment without Mono. I’m going to get Uhgood tattooed on me one day. I’ll probably get another tattoo to represent the entire mixtape too. It needs to physically be with me the way it’s been for over a year now. It’s a comfort I didn’t know I was missing. I love Mono with everything I have.

It's crazy how much Joonie has grown, Indigo is SO different; you can tell he has polished his skills and, of course, has experienced more since 2018. My favorite song is everythingoes, it has made me cry so many times. I lost my mom in 2013 and I've struggled to enjoy life and important moments in my life since she's not here. I found so much comfort in the song, being told by someone older than me that it would be okay and I won't feel this way forever. It's a constant battle but it gives me hope that it'll be better one day.

Mono. is the perfect segue into Indigo. It sets you up to see RM as an introspective adult who is grappling with figuring out the world in a way that feels familiar and personal.
Moonchild is my go-to on this mixtape. I need it to be "my time", so I'll just keep singing that over and over like a personal affirmation.

it's called a playlist because all the songs has the same kind of feel and atmosphere to them , and if you let all the songs flow you can notice that the ending sound of the songs is connected to the next one , for exemple there's the sounds of rain in the end of everythingoes connecting the last song forever rain that begins with the same rain sounds , it's a clever piece of work , everythingoes is a song that means A LOT to me i'd like to get it tattoed on me someday. as always i love LOVE your reactions and i'm excited for you to dig in and understand those lyrics....they feel like poems to me , joon lyrics always do.

mono is a really painful, raw, and extremely personal album RM shared with us. now, indigo is the same but with more hope. he says it's his diary from his twenties as he's turning 30 soon. i really love indigo with my whole heart. when i heard the title track "wildflower" i knew the whole album would be his passion project. and it is! i know it's a long one but his interview with zach zhang for indigo is super insightful and he shares his creative process as well as some of the songs' meanings on there. check it out in your own time so you can appreciate the songs all the more when you listen to indigo!!

Mono is pure perfection. I always say that but it just is. Recently I’ve been having a hard time with my 13 year olds anxiety and depression. I get so stressed and frustrated feeling hopeless. After I drop off her siblings at school, I sit in the car and just go through the playlist and relax. It is truly amazing and helpful. Everythingose just gives me the extra lift. Idk if it’s me internally saying everything will be ok that while RM repeatedly says everything goes I hear “ I’ll be fine”. Talk about miss heard lyrics 😅

The thing I love about RM’s poetry is that it’s not like typical albums telling you to be happy or move forward. I rather think of it as he is comforting you to sit with your sadness/pain and just take it in. His lyrics are all about comfort and he’s truly so good at it

You might have said this, but I'm commenting as I watch the video. lol I think a playlist is a cohesive body of work from beginning to end. For example your study playlist, gym playlist, and sexy time playlist can probably play from beginning to end without messing up the mood you are trying to create for yourself. Mono. is kind of like that, whereas RM the mixtape is more about each track rather than the cohesiveness of the project. Maybe lol
