RM & Pharrell - Rolling Stone Interview! | Twins First Reaction

“NO NEVERS!”

This interview was a raw and intimate meeting of two of the world’s most creative minds. The respect and admiration that RM and Pharrell have for one another was on full display…as was their honesty, humility, vulnerability, authenticity and overall humanity.

There were far too many genius one-liners and tidbits of inspiration sprinkled throughout this interview, but here are a few quotes that really resonated with us:

RM:

• “These days, GENRE doesn’t mean anything!”

• “It’s just a MASS.” (RM referring to the gigantic crowd of ARMYs at concerts).

• “I wanted to have the FREQUENCY like you.”

• “I have to give them—I have to offer them (ARMY)—the BEST night ever in their lives.”

• “Love is really happening when we give, not take.”

• “I personally started my career as a rapper, and as a POET.”

• “No NEVERS!”

PHARRELL:

• “I make decisions based off of feeling. I don’t make them off of convention.”

• “I surrender to what the music needs.”

• “There’s a lot of HUMILITY that you all (BTS) vibrate.”

• “It is a massive energy coming at you.”

• “I’m a PUBLIC SERVANT first.”

• “That made me start to think about purpose, and things having real true DNA and not just aesthetic perversion.”

ARMY - given that RM’s new solo album appears to be poised for a November release date, let us know your thoughts on how we should approach it! Should we dive into his previous mixtapes (RM and MONO) before his album drops? 🙏🏽

As always, we truly appreciate your love and support (WE’LL CONTINUE SAYING THIS UNTIL THE END OF TIME). Your subscription allows us to produce higher-quality reaction videos, and moves us closer to our goal of doing this full-time! Let us know if you have any questions, feedback, thoughts, etc. at any time! BORAHAE!! 💜💜

Comments

I loved this interview. It allowed Namjoon to interact with a fellow artist, someone he admires, on a more personal and kindred level. It also gave me some inkling on Pharrell as a person that was very satisfying. There are many parallels between them especially in how they approach music, and how serious they are about their craft. I’m hoping for more wonderful interactions between each other and other artists in the future. Namjoon seemed a bit nervous and I think he was trying really hard to try to express himself clearly, trying to find the right words to use during the interview. But you could tell he listened raptly and he will take the lessons he learned here close to his heart for the rest of his life. Re: your pronunciation of certain words, I also noticed it and was very curious about where you lived. I’d never heard it before which is funny because I lived in NY for a couple of years. I think it’s a good idea to explore RM and Mono first. Preferably in chronological order, so you have an idea of RM’s evolution as an artist before Indigo comes out. There are many more songs RM has on SoundCloud, as you have seen, some of them pre-debut and some collabs with BTS members or other artists. You should eventually check those out as well. I always love your reactions and your insights on BTS’ music. Looking forward to more!!
