The Buzzcut Boys Chapter 4

The warm glow of the TV cast flickering shadows against the dark windows. As the costumed hero’s battled each other on screen, their one-liners were interrupted by the crunching of chips Gavin was shoveling in his mouth, crumbs spilling onto the t-shirt shelf of his belly. Travis’s was squeezed next to Gavin on the couch, and was looking through the TV more than at it.

A sudden loud crash echoed through the house, and Travis jumped, his heart leaping in his chest. Gavin hoisted his bulking frame up, the couch rising a few inches, and plodded off to investigate. Travis sat still, blood pounding in his ears. Then the hallway darkened as Gavin reappeared, holding a picture frame.

“Looks like an old nail gave up the ghost. Fell off the wall.” He held it out to Travis, who took it and flipped it around. Through the spider-web of broken glass, Travis saw the picture the frame had been protecting. His grandmother was holding him from behind; he had a cookie in each hand and his face has a huge smile plastered on it.

“Thanks,” Travis’s reply was hushed, his eyes never leaving the frame. Gavin plopped back down on the couch, a groan of wood in response.

“You look mighty young in that picture, what were you, twelve?”

“I was ten.” Travis replied, “I was helping grandma in the garden. She asked me to get a bucket from the shed, and I didn’t see the wasp nest until it was too late.” Through the broken glass, his superman band-aids were just visible on his arms. “I was balling my eyes out, until grandma said I would get a cookie for each sting. Then it became the best day ever.”

Gavin chuckled, his whole body rolling with it. “Yeah, that fits. She was a character, your grandma. And those cookies were no joke,” He patted his gut, “Must have had ten-thousand of those puppies over the years.”

Travis nodded, his eyes finding his grandmothers in the frame. Such warmth those eyes held, but now he was wondering if it was him or if there was a shade of mystery in those eyes. She seemed a little less a grandmother, and more of a stranger.

A hand waving inches from his face broke his thoughts

“Yoo hoo, anybody home?

“Huh, what?”

“I said do you want to watch something else?” Gavin jabbed his thumb at the TV, where Travis now saw credits slowly scrolling.

“I, um.” Travis pinched the bridge of his nose, “No thanks. I think I just wanna go to sleep.” He placed the broken frame on the coffee table and rose to his feet. Gavin glanced at his watch.

“Sounds good to me, let’s get some shut eye.”

The stairs protested loudly as they both made their way upstairs, duffel bag slung over Gavin’s shoulder. Travis made his way to the guest room, rubbing his eyes as he entered the bathroom. He had just grabbed his toothbrush when he heard a heavy plop. He stuck his head out the bathroom door to see Gavin throwing a sleeping bag onto the floor.

“What are you doing?”

Gavin yanked out a pillow. “Duh. It’s time for bed.”

“But why are you here? There’s another guest room right down the hall. And it has a perfectly good bed!?”

Gavin gave the pillow a couple fluffs, “Boss said I’m to keep an eye on you tonight. Best way to do that is be in the same room as ya.”

Travis just stared slack jawed, then pulled himself together. “I’m not crazy, I don’t need a babysitter.”

Gavin pulled off his shirt, a worn-out wife beater covering little of his massive chest and belly. “Pfff. We sleep together at the firehouse. My own space and only one other person in the room? This is a five star resort, man.” he dropped his pants, an enormous pair of yellow sponge-bob boxers that were stretched to their limits.

Travis felt a small surge of perplexity, before resigning.

“Fine, suit yourself.” Travis muttered as he turned back to the bathroom for the toothpaste. As he brushed his teeth, he tried to shake off his lingering feelings the picture had brought up.

Determined to make it through the night, Travis slipped into bed as Gavin took his turn in the bathroom. The room was quiet, broken by the water running in the bathroom. The only light was an old bedside lamp; flickering and failing to keep the darkness at bay. He pulled the covers closer, suddenly feeling thankful he was not alone in the room. Gavin finished, and Travis watched as he lumbered half-dressed through the room, leaving little to the imagination. With a small shake of the floor, he plopped down on the floor and crawled into his sleeping bag. After some thumping and shuffling around, he finally settled down, his head sticking out of of an overstuffed bean-bag chair.

“Ahhh, comfy.”

Travis raised an eyebrow, then remembered he couldn’t see him. “Your lying on a hardwood floor.”

“I am going to sleep without elbows jabbing me, or my feet against a wall, and the air hasn’t been sucked in a couple times before it gets to me. This is comfy.”

Travis managed a small smile. He reached over to turn off the lamp, and his smile vanished along with everything else.

“Night Gavin.”

“Night Travis.”

Travis woke up in the middle of the night. He lay still for a moment, the dark ceiling barley visible above him. The room was silent, too silent. That’s when he realized he didn’t hear any breathing.

“Gavin,” Travis whispered, “You awake?”

“Yo.”

Travis strained his ears, but the house was quiet as a tomb. Unnerved, he sat up in bed. “Was there a sound? Did you hear something?”

Gavin stirred in his sleeping bag. “Probably just the house settling. You know, old buildings make all sorts of noises.”

Travis tried to shake off the feeling of unease creeping up his spine. “Are you sure you didn’t hear something?

Travis heard a sigh, and then movement in the dark. Suddenly, a huge shadow loomed over his bed.

“Shove over.”

“What.”

“You are clearly not gonna relax tonight, so we’re bunk mates until you can relax and get some sleep.”

Travis shifted over in bed as Gavin hoisted himself up and plopped down next to him. The mattress groaned under the sudden weight, but Travis found some comfort in the presence of another human being so close.

The room felt less oppressive with Gavin by his side, a sense of security settling over Travis as he lay back down. He could feel the warmth radiating from Gavin's body, like a shield against the unknown that lurked in the darkness.

the minutes ticked by. Travis kept his eyes closed, trying to lull himself back to sleep, when suddenly Gavin rolled over onto his side and threw an arm over him. It was clumsy and awkward, and his belly pressed into Travis side.

“How ya doin’ cowboy?”

“I’m, uh,” travis sighed, “I guess I’m still shook up about what happened. not sure if I can go back to sleep.”

“Well,” Gavin shifted on the bed, “Guess we have one more thing to try then.”

Travis opened his mouth to ask what before a mouth pressed into his in a deep, passionate kiss. Travis’s mind raced with confusion, but Gavin pressed harder and the thought was driven from his mind. A rush of passion erupted from inside and swam through his entire body, thirsty for release. it was strange, for a moment Travis had the wild thought the feeling wasn’t his own.

Gavin rolled over on top of Travis, his massive body pressing him deep into the bed. Travis heart raced as he struggled and squirmed, his body filling with strange hunger. His hands ran over Gavin, feeling every ripple and curve. Gavin pushed himself up, the smell of him filling Travis’s world. With a click, the side lamp illuminated the room, and Gavin’s face filled Travis’s vision.

“There, now I can see your cute face,” he smiled. One of his hands went exploring under the covers and found Travis hard and ready.

“Mmmm, a midnight snack.” Gavin’s smile became a mischievous grin, and he maneuvered himself down the bed. Travis felt his PJ bottoms yanked off, his erection swaying. Gavin fell on it like a starving man, and Travis hand gripped the sheets as Gavin’s warm mouth enveloped him in a sweet, pleasurable embrace. The sensation was overwhelming, and Travis's mind and body were yearing for every drop. He had never experienced anything like this before, but he couldn't deny it was the most incredible feeling coursing through his body he had ever felt.

As Gavin continued his skilled oral assault, Travis felt his body building towards something he didn't understand. Powerful hunger, yearning to be satisfied, yet a twinge of sadness that it would have to end. The sensations were intense, and he had no idea what to expect. All he knew was that it felt exquisite.

Finally, as the pleasure built to a crescendo, Travis felt a warmth spread throughout his entire being, heating all the way down to his bones, his very being. Beneath the pleasure, almost hidden, was an odd feeling that they were being watched. it was almost hidden because, to Travis, the idea of it made him harder.

With one final thrust, he exploded in a wave of pure ecstasy that left him breathless and weak. Gavin didn't stop immediately, but continued to gently bob his head and soothe Travis until he calmed down. Then, with a swallow and a satisfied smirk, Gavin crawled back up the bed, settling on his back, pulling Travis onto his chest and wrapping his strong arms around him.

"Better now?" he asked softly, his breath warm against Travis's skin.

Travis closed his eyes and sighed, feeling a strange mix of relief and confusion. He had never felt anything like that before, but some part of him wanted to feel it again, and again after that. As he lay there, ensnared in Gavin's arms, he felt a strange sense of comfort and security. It was odd, the disappearing sensation of being watched, but for concern rather than judgement. He found himself sad to feel it go.

"Yeah," he replied faintly, his voice almost lost in the still night air. "I think I can sleep now."

Gavin hummed in response, his chest vibrating. Soon, his breaths became slow and even. And those are what finally caused Travis eyes to shut and stay closed.
