[ANIMATION] XJ9

Sorry about that, I knew I made a big fuss about doing four animations last month. Unfortunately, I recently suffered a pretty bad case of "getting mauled by a pack of coyotes." Nah, I'm just kidding. Nothing bad happened. but, a lot did happen, so I will now go through the list of happenings. Because one, some of you might be interested. And two, I use this Patreon as a public diary.

First off, my birthday was pretty sick. I also got pretty sick because I drank too much.

Secondly, the day after my birthday, I got a pretty cool offer. Well, I personally think it's cool. We'll see if it's cool in execution. I was going to have an announcement, but... I dunno. I think I'll just say it. I got an offer to make my own merchandise. So like, body pillows, tiddy mouse pads, acrylic standees, all that kind of stuff. The guy who set it up, who is now my new friend, was so impressed by my Garfield animation and how well it did (yes I know it was popular because of Nicole. I like to think it's because of Garfield though) that he hit me up. I said yes, signed the contract, and am now subject to Canadian laws. Like, for instance, every morning I have to get up, face north, hold my arms in the air, and sing "Oooooh Caaanaaadaaaaaa, I am employed by thee~"

So, I've been working on products to sell. I feel really official, it's pretty cool. Also, technically, I'm Diives coworker, so that's cool. Even though he still doesn't know I exist. I am also in the same Discord server as him, so I can start saying "Yeah, me and Diives go way back." Anyways, I don't want to set anything up until I have more stuff made, but I have made this:

 Behold, an official KYDE tiddy mouse pad, featuring a non legally-distinct character, "Disgruntled foster home employee." Now you yourself can make your own Frankie Arc from the comfort and privacy of your own home. Just... get blue nitrile gloves and you can pretend to be Bloo.

So uh, I hope it looks good. I've never made a mouse pad before. Or even seen one in the wild. Let me know if it looks like shit. I have some other stuff I need to / want to make before I set everything up, but there's a first look kinda deal. That way you guys don't think I've been a slack-ass again.

The third happening of this month was the Solar Eclipse on the 8th. I'm actually really into space and space-themed stuff, so I was insanely excited about this. I had tried to see the last one with my brother, in like... 2017 I think, but it was horrible stormy where we had driven. I was super super anxious about this one, since all the forecasts said cloudy. Whenever I get anxious about something, I kind of just shut down, so I was trying to make this mouse pad while obsessively checking the weather leading up to the 8th. But! We got to see it. I gotta say, it was the coolest thing I've ever seen. The image is burnt into my head, one because it was so amazing, but two because I didn't wear solar glasses, so literally burnt. I've seen pictures of eclipses, of course. But the real deal was... so surreal. It didn't look real. To me, it made the sky look like a ceiling, and the sun look like a weird light. It was amazing. I was shaking afterwards. Years of anxiety, gone like that.

Fourth happening, was actually not too long ago. The merch man told me he was working on a way to sell comic books on the site. So, I don't know if I've publicly said this, it's not like it's a super duper secret. I've told plenty of people. Comic books are my real passion, animation is cool and all, but I got into art to make comics. I've had this plan for years now, where I would work, earn enough money, be able to afford my own website, then post webcomics there. I was hoping to make enough from animating eventually. But... this essentially shaved off years from my plan. Now I can just make comics whenever. And they're print-as-ordered. So they're like, real comics. So lately my brain has been back in comic-mode, planning on what I want to make. I've been excited.

And that's that. All the happenings. Nothing bad, just a lot of good exciting things. Too much though, it was overwhelming. It's taken me quite a while to get my head screwed back on. But, I've settled down, and have gotten back to animation. I'm gonna try to get another one done before this month is up, and get all the merch stuff ready to rock.

Anyways, let's talk this animation. It's of XJ9, or Jenny Wakeman, from the old cartoon My Life as a Teenage Robot. I fucking loved this show as a kid, and thinking on it, it's been really influential on my art. It's gonna sound like I'm bullshitting, because I literally just made smut of her, but I never actually had a crush on her as a kid. I don't think I had the opportunity to, I was just so artistically smitten with everything in the show. Her character design is just awesome. Her color scheme, her proportions, everything. Again, this sounds sexual even though I don't mean it that way, but I love her legs. Whenever I would draw robots, I would draw their legs just like hers. Even any kind of Sci Fi armor I drew would have similar legs. Well into High School I did that. As for the show itself, I also loved the overall 50's atompunk aesthetic, and I remember the music being good, too. Just a very creative show.

So, Jenny is special to me, one because I was a big fan, and two because Zone's animation of her literally traumatized me as a kid, and was the first pornographic video I ever saw. I was on Newgrounds, as any child shouldn't be, when I stumbled upon it. I remember thinking the thumbnail looked just like the show, how bad could it be? Why would it have that rating? Well. I found out. I watched it muted.

I dunno if doing my own take on her was because I thought it was a good idea, or if it was some kind of catharsis. Either way, here it is. Uh, enjoy.

Onto other details. I don't know if I would do more of her in this scenario. Like, escalate it. I dunno if I want to, or if people would want to see it. But, I made this with that in mind. That's why it has a landscape orientation, I'd keep the same aspect ratio. Like, I don't ever want to do that again, you know? Have weird fucking aspect ratios. Any kind of series of animations should be able to be linked together in the same video. So, if there is an interest, I'll do that here.

Well, that's all I have to say. The spice must flow, so I'll be getting back to work now. Hope y'all like this, and the merch when that's ready.
