Alright, warmed up. I'm still a little bitter about being sick, but I'm being less of a little bitch about it.
I thought it'd be a good idea to do something that wasn't easy, kinda get the gears a-turning better than doing something I could whip out quickly. I always feel lame making something that isn't an animation. But, doing a Static image is way quicker, and better practice. And I do feel out of practice.
A curse of mine is only being able to draw figures in a stock standard 3/4 view, without any form or perspective or whatever. So, I ATTEMPTED to give this character some form and some perspective. I also tried to do a sort of different pose? I'm kinda proud of myself, I didn't use much reference. I still use a shitload, I just didn't use it so much like a crutch.
Not to say reference is bad. You should always use it. There's this weird stigma surrounding reference, like if you use it you're not a real artist or some horseshit. But seriously, use it. Almost everyone does. I personally use PureRef, it's a great program for reference images.
I also thought it'd be a good idea to try designing my own characters. Try flexing those muscles a bit.
Now that I've recovered and the maelstrom of bullshit that was this entire year is kind of ending, I do want to try growing with art. Not just producing stuff to meet a deadline. I mean like, I DO need to meet deadlines. Holy shit I'm still so behind. But, I do want to be trying new things and learning new things. I'm absolutely going to be churning out animations again. But I also want to be making other art. This shit's fun, and I've missed it.
Anyways, warmed up again. Next up is an Animation. I was actually working on the next one before July got absolutely ravaged, so it shouldn't take too long to get out. Okay, I am still bitter.
