A lot of people watching today, miss that part of the movie where Marty goes “against Miami?” But I really like viewing this part in modern day, because it’s one of the few things that came true in so many ways. At the time of the film in 1989, Miami didn’t have a team. Then in 1993 they did but were called the Florida Marlins. Then again, in 2012, before when this film takes place, the same team changed their name to Miami. Additionally, the cubs won the World Series in 2016 (not the exact year) but when they did win in 2016, it was their first since 1908. the film, when they made that scene purposefully chose the cubs because it would have been considered crazy that they ever won again, and perhaps they could only win in another 30 years lol, which basically came true (albeit 31)
