Angel 4x18 FULL Reaction

Angel 4x18 FULL Reaction

Comments

Anyone know when he will be unlocking the recent angel episodes?

Kevin Kerins

I'm glad I can finally comment that when Nick was yelling "Cordy would never do that!" (have sex with Connor) that he was correct. Cordy would never do that. I really love this season. I look back and remember the first time I watched it, struggling as I watched Cordy, thinking she was so... "off" and it felt so satisfying when I found out she was the Beast's master and that she didn't come back right. I love how the writers used Skip and Jasmine to tie so many events from S2 forward together. Now, I can't watch Angel go through the trials to save Darla without thinking how the extra life he earns will be used or how Skip manipulates Cordy to become infused with demon. So many things allowed Jasmine a way to get back into this world.

Also, its interesting you picked up on them mentioning jasmine a lot in this episode, cause most reactors I've seen don't pay attention to that detail. Jasmine choosing that name for herself and her love of the flower's scent was also somewhat foreshadowed as both Darla (her grandma) and Drusilla (her grandma's sire) expressed their love of jasmine. In S2 of Angel (ep 2x9), human Darla is sitting in the hotel's garden smelling a jasmine flower and says "mmm, jasmine. It blooms at night. I remember what that was like". And in Buffy S2 ep19, when Angelus is showing Dru and Spike the garden in their new mansion/lair, Dru immediately notices the flower: Dru: "Look! Jasmine..." Angelus: "Night blooming" Dru: "Like us..."

Now that you've seen Jasmine's power and how she preaches about love and changing the world and all, it makes the song that Cordy sang for Lorne earlier in the season even more eerie. Back in ep 4x4 amnesiac Cordy chose to sing "The Greatest Love of All" (which BTW is the same song she was singing for the talent show ep in Buffy S1), and the specific lyrics that she sings from the chorus could be seen as foreshadowing what was to come later this season: "Because the greatest love of all is happening to me I found the greatest love of all INSIDE of me"

Lol at the end after all your insightful thoughts "Who knows what will happen!" That always makes me giggle. Because you do have good insight and analysis but at the end of the day, the show is going to always surprise us! I find the Jasmine storyline inticing even on multiple rewatches. Especially after everything with Cordelia and Connor this season, which can be frustrating and unpleasant. Poor Fred. Amy Acker is such an incredible actress.

Sequence of events in this episode.... Vampire attacks Jasmine in bowling alley causing her to bleed. Vampire escapes from the bowling alley and runs into and injures a man at a table outside. That injured man attacks Jasmine. Coincidence??? Maybe.

I think they could have handled the Jasmine name reveal differently. This is the second reactor in a row who thinks the Jasmine talk is significant to the plot beyond her name.

The real life commentary that can be said about fundamentalist worshiping their Gods IRL is interesting. When Angel and Conor came back to the hotel, they were scary like they were in a cult IRL. It's also interesting to see what is basically an "angelic being" be a villain. I like the idea that heavenly beings can also be evil, it's interesting and not done very often.
