Probably my second or third favorite live action Spider-Man movie. I still think Spider-Man 2 is the best constructed and directed, and Homecoming might beat it just for Michael Keaton's Vulture, but I adore this film. Primarily because it's the only one that understood the sarcasm and angst of Peter and Spider-Man. Both Tobey and Tom are great, but they're too polite. Too innocent in a way. Peter Parker has a lot of angst underneath everything, and he's relentless mocking towards his bad guys. Andrew is still the only live action Spider-Man to really mock his bad guys.
Plus, it has the best love interest with Gwen. I will vigorously defend Dunst's MJ as a three-dimensional, complex character that people underrate because they demand a love interest to be more straightforward support and not challenge the hero they project themselves onto. I think she's legitimately better-written than Zendaya's MJ, which is a shame because Zendaya can be a wonderful actress and she's given very little agency (I'll write more on that when you guys get to NWH). But Gwen here managed to be three-dimensional and likable, while also being the most competent of the love interests. Plus, I love Emma Stone.
My only real issue with this film is the villain. I like him fine, but Connors is nowhere near as good a villain as any of the major Raimi villains, or even the MCU ones IMO. But other than that, great movie.
Shame they had to ruin the next one.
