Spike enjoying watching the demons break stuff and saying it looked like fun is a gentle reminder that he's a monster, only not harming humans because he's got the chip still in his head ... yeah, Buffy doesn't know it's Sunnydale without her. After she got out of her own grave ... and she sees the Sunnydale all messed up ... of course she assumes it's hell.

So she went back from where she was (maybe a hell dimension if Willow is right, being tortured for maybe hundreds of year) and the first thing she has to do is facing her worst nightmare. No wonder she is traumatized...
