Unfortunately getting a proper VR180 render is really hard due to various design decisions and tradeoffs ero made, so cross/walleye-style is the best result right now. Blender has multiple rendering engines - cycles (which is more “accurate” and “advanced” but takes longer to render scenes with) and eevee (which is closer to the rendering engines older games use, so it’s a lot faster but has some restrictions on use). Eevee doesn’t support a spherical lens on the digital camera to make VR180 renders with, so you have to do some ugly workarounds with scripting the camera to change anges and lots of postprocessing, and because it’s not a continuous curve you get a distorted stitching-like effect around the edges where you’re merging renders. You can’t just swap to cycles for the render either. A material that looks good in eevee won’t in cycles and vice versa without effort to make it look good in both, and if a material isn’t optimized gor cycles it can take multiple orders of magnitude longer to render per frame at an acceptable quality. All in all, ero’s made a technical tradeoff for lots of views/angles and alternate versions of his renders which unfortunately precludes a better VR render. Hopefully eevee will get an update soon that adds spherical lens support!

Honestly, vr doesn't work here, because there's no distortion for lenses. It's just 2 screens.
