While working through all the delays on the Cheers video, I had been making progress the whole time on this project on The Golden Girls. The original plan was to get it up sometime around the 100th birthday of Betty White, but sadly she passed away while I was working on this. I had actually recorded the whole thing the day before she passed away, and then had to go back and make some sad updates. The comments over the credits are completely new, and I got a little more emotional than I had intended it to, but it was real so I left it in.
I'm planning to cut out a part of this video when it goes up on my official channel. I was going to make a separate video as a bonus deleted scene, but I thought it might make more sense to leave it in its original context. That part is between 1:00:20 and 1:15:05.
The reason for this cut is I'm not sure I handled any of these topics with the depth required. Both LGBT and racial representation deserve full videos, and I felt like I hadn't read enough, or included enough context, to do these topics justice.
I've already chosen the topic for the next retrospective (and the one after that), but since I haven't even started watching it yet, don't expect another one of these too soon. The next video (which has a few weeks of research done) will be about something a lot less fun than a classic sitcom.
