Work In Progress - The Black Elf Dress Stitching Sunday

I managed to do some serious stitching yesterday. These boning channels are pretty long ones. They took hours to paint :D and maybe they're not that super visible if you make the thread dark grey, but they do the job as a nice detail in closeups.

The dress part is fully stitched. I also added some extra channels to make the plunge neckline more realistic. I mean, if that dress was made in reality, you would have to do some reinforcements, that would help keeping the shape.

I'm not that super happy with the back though. The grommets need some rethinking. And the back bodice panels seem a bit too wide for this kind of dress. Besides, the back lacing seems too short to easily undress the garment. It should go ten or twenty cms lower, but I won't fix that

...and a cute little Molag Bal is here with us as well :D

Let's call it a day. I think I'll freeze the project for now until the poll is finished. But everything tells me this will be the star of this month.

K.

I'm glad that you like Mystique Lilies. It was a fun project! It's originally designed by Royal Black Couture. I love her style so much. Well, you guys have always some influence on what I do ;) Mainly what I'm trying to do here is bring some nice inspirations for my Patrons and they choose which way I will go. Of course, there are sometimes situations like The Black Elf Dress, where I want to do something so badly, that I just start modelling ;)

Thanks very much for that, Personally, I think you are absolutely right in not mimicking Chanel's design because while they were a great step forward in the couturier's art, It's lovely to see that you are picking up on that discipline, taking it forward into the future and you will no doubt leave your own stamp upon it. And of course you create a very neat balance by looking back to history for inspiration too. But again, please don't allow me to attempt to influence you in any direction, as you have your own style and personal inspirations and they are working beautifully. Oh, and by the way, I LOVE the idea of the lilies on the Mystique dress!

I'll try to make this model easy to tweak the way you described - like making the long skirt easily "detatchable" (i imagine I can make it just transparent in the short version), but it all depends on how the leg rigging will go. All in all it's a really nice idea. Thanks for sharin it Les! :) Maybe it won't be exactly like Chanel's designs but somewhat inspired by them. Please feel free to speak up if you have anything on your mind watching this content. The comments are most welcome. :)

I was suggesting that you could create variants off that form, as well as retex of the Black Elf dress, but I don't have the expertise to know whether it's easy or difficult to make changes to the form itself. For instance, I was thinking in terms of removing the lower part of the dress below what appears to be a join line below the derriere in the fourth image, this would allow you to create something along the lines of one of Chanel's "little black number"'s, although I'll admit that for Coco it would be a little too short as her's generally ended either just above...or just below...the knee. Anyhow, I'll shut up about it as there's nothing worse than someone interfering with one's creative progress by adding in unassociated ideas! :) All the best.

Thank you :)

I'm planning to prepare some variants of this dress over time. The form is ultra simple, so it's easy to place the lines wherever you want ;) I'm quite sure we'll have a retex vote here soon for this dress.

You know, looking at these five pics, I have a suspicion that with a little more of your creativity, you could base three different dresses on this model.

That dress looks fabulous, Kozakowy and the boning channels are absolutely fine and will look super-detailed on close-ups (that's the joy of your creations). The panels on the back look fine but I'm no expert! :)
