I usually try to post an update once a week but this weekend is just full of surprises :D
Also, the jewelry materials are the last thing to do in most cases. This time it was the easy part :) It's because we've got only seven modules of jewelry here and they're like copied all around the model.
Planning the jewel models is always a tricky part 'cause if you do too much detail it will exceed the polycount limit for nif partitions (65k if I remember correctly) and it will become less optimal and more difficult to rig. But making everything super low-poly is not an option in some cases when keeping the details is important for the appearance.
This time I did a kind of compromise in terms of modelling. I did a very basic shape of the jewels and added further details in Substance Painter using diffuse specular and height channels.
I think it looks nice and everything is on layers (I've got a golden base layer, two golden details layers, pearls layer, and gems layer) so it's easy to recolor/tweak in the future.
Do not hesitate to ask if you have some questions about how these things are made :)
Stay well,
K.
