""Chelrie, wait!" Alya cried out to her mischievous travel companion as she got tangled in the thicket. The idea of being left alone was almost as terrifying as Chelrie's latest adventure to some obscure location where she claimed to have found wondrous things. "Chelrie Brandybrook Tallberry, you stop this instant!"

Such halfling children rarely travel so far from the roost, and while Chelrie had been Alya's friend nearly since birth, the realization of how far they had strayed from their homes with Chelrie rushing ahead, calling back "We're almost there! Keep up!" left Alya questioning the value of their friendship. But, as she pushed through the thicket, the forest opened up revealing the most majestic of groves. "Oh... Oh my..." she thought to herself. What a wondrous secret Chelrie had found!

"Alya, come! Come quickly!" Chelrie begged. "I want you to meet my friends!"

As they proceeded into the lush grove, with ponds full of life, bushes full of berries and fruits, and fauna riddled throughout, Chelrie approached a fawn near a strange structure of rock. "Hello friend! Could you speak for me again?" The fawn, just a hair taller than the halfings he addressed, spoke with a deep voice for something so small in stature. "Small one, you were asked not to share our sacred place with others."

Normally such circumstances would have terrified the youngling, but Alya remembered the stories of the friends of the forest. She had longed to meet them one day, and such a gift that Chelrie had given her could not have been predicted. "Please, good creature, I am a friend of the forest!" Alya cried out excitedly, all fear removed from her being. "May I stay with you awhile? I have so much to ask. All we have are stories of your kind, and it was my greatest wish to meet you."

Upon hearing Alya's declaration, Chelrie beamed with pride and happiness. It's not everyday such simple folk can give in such a way to their friends."
