Prayer of Healing - Greek Style Temple

“Your recent travels through swamps, deserts and frozen tundra has been a test of endurance and sanity. It is a relief to be back in civilisation, even if it’s just a small town like this.

As you walk along the streets you pass simple but beautifully carved stone buildings. The stone casts a warm yellow glow on the streets.

At the heart of the town, a large temple sits atop a stone plinth. It stands proud and strong in the summer sun. Rows of tall columns support the tiled roof, providing ample shade for those looking for a respite from the heat.

Passing under broad trees you climb the steps to the entrance and enter the blessed cool interior of the temple. Inside, rows of columns guide you to a 16ft tall spear-carrying deity.

Between you and the statue, acolytes sit either side of a central pool of water. They scoop up the fresh liquid, ready to bathe the tired, the world-weary, the adventurer. 

You’re conscious of your road-worn and battle-tested armour, filthy with mud and gore, but the acolytes don’t seem to mind. One fills a deep bowl with water from the pool and smiles as they move towards you.

Finally, here is a place to rest.”

This map was in no way encouraged by the fact WOTC are set to release the new Theros setting mid July ...

That aside, the perspective on this one was an enjoyable challenge. It seemed a shame to do a map with so many columns and not have a good sense of depth. 

I also got a little carried away trying out weather options for that all important atmosphere and probably over did it with the lightening, but it's a fun option to have. Should help to set the scene as adventurers seek refuge from the storm and fend off any assailants.
