In this Goth Girl video, she's helping you to get ready for a party for The Lovely Little Witches! She herself makes extremely clear that she doesn't want to go, and for good reason. There will be people there! So she calls on the Conduit to be her date (mostly to deflect social interactions with The Witches).
This isn't something I've really talked about, but I always imagined Goth Girl as kind of a homebody. Unlike her sister who's out in the field busting ghosts and demons, Goth Girl tends to prefer her room, a good book, and practicing witchcraft in her spare time. So the idea of having to go to a party, especially with her co-workers is extremely anxiety inducing for her!
I also revealed in this video that the Helsing family bought the coffee shop that her and the Conduit like hanging out in! It's a running joke that she comes from a rich family, which would make a lot of sense considering her lineage! But, to be honest, this was really just an excuse to use that coffee shop background more lol. I really like it! Any chance I get to use it, I take!
I saw a couple comments where viewers speculated the next video would cover the party itself, but I never planned on doing a video on that. There were a couple of reasons for this, but the biggest one was that the point of this video was to focus on the connection between Goth Girl and The Conduit. Conduit relies on Goth Girl for protection and advice for fighting monsters, and Goth Girl relies on Conduit for emotional support.
It's a two-way street for them, and their relationship is the beating heart of The Vampire Saga. Generally, videos are released in the order that they canonically occur, but I've really wanted to do a video depicting when Goth Girl and the Conduit first met. I'll probably get around it it soonish...
Across The Spider-verse is one of my all-time favorite Spider-Man and superhero movies. It's genuinely nuts how much detail is stuffed into every frame, and it's a celebration of everything we love about the the wall-crawler. This video depicted a scene where Gwen visits Miles after they hadn't been in contact for a while due to, well, being in different dimensions.
I thought it was really obvious that Miles was supposed to be the POV, but I still saw some commenters refer to the Spider-Man depicted as Peter. Maybe they didn't see the movie! Hard to say!
When this scene occurs in the movie, there's a tension due to Miles both being excited to see Gwen, but also annoyed that she never tried to get in contact with him after the events of the first movie. I worked this into my performance by having Gwen address that the POV is peeved, and she slowly breaks both the ice and the tension as the video goes on.
My personal favorite part of this video is the ending when she's listening to songs and humming some of the soundtrack from the Spider-verse movies. When the soundtrack first came out, I had it on loop and listened everyday for a solid month! Would do it again too!
Anyway, I'm currently preparing and filming this week's videos, so look forward to that!
