Original 1930 tile

One of the things that we loved best about this 1930 Caribbean style house in Davenport, Iowa is that the entire house was maintained in its original order as much as possible. Including this gorgeous tile in my bathroom. I love the inky black built-in washcloth and soap details so much, I can’t even stand it! My second favorite part of the bathroom is the original black and white herringbone or bamboo tile, it’s in perfect condition still. These are rare features in homes these days. What are your favorite parts of your home?
The homes in that area are so cool! Historic homes everywhere

It's almost as stunning as the (bath) bombs you have been dropping in my OF DMs. Irresistible as ever Dannie 💦👀❤️

Funny story I used to live in Davenport on 12th and Mississippi right by where the old brick roads were and the mansions

Yes we get to a certain point in our lives when we have done and seen most everything. Finding beauty in interesting things keeps us vital and full of wonderment. Keep enjoying the firsts or seconds when they happen. I amean if it feels good, do it twice to make sure. Cheers to you Dani

I don’t remember ever seeing tile like this. I’ve seen a lot of tile patterns, but this is the first time I’ve seen this tile pattern in person, that’s exciting! I don’t have many firsts anymore 🤣

That Tile is impressive and it looks like a 3D rendering. you could get lost in that thinkin about MC Escher.

That’s what happens too often, get it because so often things just need replaced and if you change one thing in these old houses, you will have 10 more projects behind it because of that upgrade 😂

The first new house (mid 60's) that I grew up in had 2 bathrooms. One was a pea soup green and the other was a pink nightmare. I'm talking half way up the walls, bathtub, toilet and sinks!!
I did like the long wood floor hallway. My brother's and I would slide in our socks back and forth.

A friends of mine had an older home, built sometime between 1940-1960. Had, in my mind, wonderful pink and black tiles in the bathroom. He and his wife tore it down and built a modern house in its place.
