We had such a fun time the other day shooting this beautiful vintage mid century chenille peacock dressing gown. We took the day to go to middles beach in Isabella and drink in the sun. I’m not sure if this dressing gown has ever seen the beach before but I think she had fun!
The waves were massive, they were pounding against the volcanic rock behind me and I could feel it in my chest. I was more focused on capturing the details of the dressing gown than I was capturing the waves but I was able to capture some incredible footage of the waves crashing after my shoot, I will post it for you later.
This dressing gown is one of my favorite vintage finds. I get really excited when I see chenille mid century dressing gowns or any sort of vintage chenille, I’m sure you know this, I talk about Chenille all the time. I find it to be very wearable, cotton is always pretty forgiving fabric and washable as well. It’s an approachable vintage item that you’re going to pay quite a lot for but the beauty of Chenille is that it’s not an incredibly delicate fabric if you treat it the right way, it will last a long time, obvious by the amazing condition of this mid century dressing gown. I thought I would just give you a little sneak peek today, I hope inspired you as much as it inspires me to feel the texture of these fabrics and get to see the incredible colors and patterns. What’s your favorite textile? I’m pretty sure mine is chenille at this point in life. But I do also love chambray, a light soft silk and I absolutely adore a quilted silk fabric.
