Today I had the chance to make a donation today to “Black Joy Sparkles”. It’s an incredible initiative started by my friend Nona, owner of Looking Glass Gems, to give performers who otherwise would struggle to afford more sparkle on stage. Much like in daily life, we all enjoy having a bit of sparkle from time to time yet for so many people it is simply not affordable. Working in performing arts we spend our time and money creating an experience for you to lose yourself in. Little do you know the money, time, effort that goes into a short 5 minute performance piece. This initiative gives performers who simply do not have the funds to bling out their costumes and props an opportunity to do so! Which also gives these performers an added edge to advance within their career. Sparkle is so much a part of performance art, sending even a $10 donation really gives performers the gift of extra shine in their art. It might seem silly to some of you, but to the rest of you who hear me and understand what I’m saying, this is an incredible initiative to donate to! I fully support their work and not only donate every chance I can but also purchase their incredible crystals for my own costuming. So if you wonder how I look so sparkly on stage, it’s all thanks to these wonderful friends who have made it possible at Looking Glass Gems💗
