“the southwestern part of the island of Puerto Rico was struck by an earthquake swarm, including six that were of magnitude 5 or greater. The largest and most damaging of this sequence occurred on January 7 at 04:24 AST (08:24 UTC) and had a magnitude of 6.4 Mw and a maximum felt intensity of VII (Very strong) on the Modified Mercalli intensity scale.[3] At least one person was killed and several others were injured.” This photo was taken on January 8th in Viejo San Juan. We did not shoot on the 7th. We were all a bit out of sorts but even on the 8th I couldn’t muster a smile. We were all figuring out what to do and I was especially in my feels. In the end I’m happy we got a few professional shots in old San Juan even though everyone of them is very somber, they were perfect for the moment. Here’s a stack of photos from that shoot and some of the fun times before and after in old San Juan.
If I had to be stuck in the middle of an earthquake with anyone, I’m glad it was with everyone here! I’m sad Jeremy could not have been with us but he was at home to watch out after the menagerie of animals. He kept them all safe and calm during the quakes until I got home. Thank you Madison Hurley Photography for sticking out the tough times with us❤️ you captured the moment perfectly.
