Today was thoroughly exhausting in the most beautiful way. We picked in Shawano Wisconsin. A sleepy farm town in the Midwest just shy of Green Bay by 45 minutes. I can’t go into too much detail about the goings-on of filming for the day but I can tell you that the couple we picked from was great! They had a bunch of kittens on their property and we’re taking very good care of the feral cats outside. I noticed one little Tiger striped kitten that was limping a bit and our contributor told me that that kitten showed up with no back left leg. She was very concerned that the kitten would not make it through winter but the other kitten seem to be doing just fine and could take care of themselves. This little kitten she named stumpy and stumpy got around just fine except for that he couldn’t run so she was concerned about predators getting him. As we were filming throughout the day I was posting on social media and calling as many people as I could to see if we could find a home for stumpy so that he didn’t have to be exposed to a harsh Midwest country winter with predators. There were so many people who wished they could help but we’re too far away… I couldn’t get a hold of any of these Safehaven animal projects in the area so I thought I was gonna have to take this little guy home to Puerto Rico with me. I was concerned about him being on the road because the stress of travel is a lot for me, I can’t imagine what it would be for a baby kitten missing a leg. Just as I was giving up hope I was able to reach my daughter memphis. Memphis helps us in Puerto Rico at Barks Of Hope Animal Rescue. She’s brilliant with animals so I know she would take very good care of this kitten at least as a foster until we could find him a good home. As it turns out she fell in love with the little guy and just can’t give him up. So stumpy has a new home! The contributors were sad to see stumpy go as that was their favorite kitten but also knew that he needed to be in a home and no longer be an outdoor cat. They were happy to see stumpy go to Memphis and they were happy to know that stumpy would continue to be spoiled with good food and lots of space and now would have a nice warm, Safe home inside, away from potential predators. Yay Stumpy!!! Yay Memphis!!! So last night, Memphis drove five hours plus to pick up the kitten. The contributors were kind enough to put the kitten inside a carrying case so that she could easily find him. Memphis switched out carrying cases and took the kitten to the hotel for the night because it was too late to drive home. She contacted me in the middle of the night letting me know that the kitten is doing great and how excited she is to be taking care of him now. This morning memphis and stumpy are headed to rock island Illinois so that stump he can see his new home! If you would like to follow stumpy’s adventures feel free to follow memphis on Instagram and Patreon. She is wisely using Patreon as a diary forum to help pay for stumpers vet bills and new fancy indoor life. I think this is a brilliant idea as Memphis spends much of her life eating in animal rescue and taking care of her own three rescue animals.
