WHEN THE LIGHTS DIM
On the night I met Erna after the start of 2021, it was already after 9pm and I was tired form a long day of running errands and driving to Los Angeles. I parked in her neighborhood and walked up to the odd, artsy house door into some bushes, only to have the beautiful redhead open it, looking radiant. She welcomed me into a huge courtyard and then into the old home, filled with amenities like classic hardwood floors and old brick tile.
She was sweet and polite and professional, incredibly down to earth and chill. I liked her right away. We talked about what we’d be shooting, looked through a few outfits, and generally just started sharing opinions. We soon realized how understanding and easy-going the other was, pleased that our personalities matched well.
Within no time we were shooting a variety of outfits all over the house, some in her bedroom, some in the bathroom and shower. As the night progressed, Erna’s silly side came out, and the later it became the more we laughed and talked more sarcastically, more in-depth. I’d like to think we easily laid the groundwork of what our friendship has become in the last month: honest, supportive, inspiring, and plain real.
