I'm surprised Elaine believed Mirror would counter higher-level Radiance magic effectively enough that she didn't bother using it at all. It makes sense that it would almost 100% reflect light magic, but radiance is 50% fire and heat-based. Her swarm of explosive butterflies seems like it would have worked pretty well although there would certainly be some blowback from the light portion of the explosions.
