"What's the matter, gentlemen? Not fond of blood pudding?" Lorenzo teased, taking a sip of his coffee.
Adam pushed his food around his plate, sighing. "It's not that, boss. It's just..."
Lorenzo's eyes twinkled with amusement. "Missing Los Angeles already? Or perhaps it's a certain someone you're pining for, Adam?"
Adam's face softened, a small smile tugging at his lips. "Can't hide anything from you, can I? Yeah, I miss Tiffany and the baby. It's the longest I've been away since she was born."
Lorenzo nodded, his own expression growing wistful. "I understand. I find myself thinking of Hera, Deborah, Mica, and Apollonia more often than I'd like to admit." He paused, his voice taking on a more serious tone. "But remember, gentlemen, this is business. What we're doing here will secure a better future for all our families."
Leo nodded, straightening in his chair. "You're right, boss. It's just been a hell of a few days."
Lorenzo grinned, his energy infectious. "And it's about to get even more interesting. The Lee family awaits, and after that, who knows?"
They finished their meal and prepared to head out. The homesickness evident in his men only fueled his determination to make this trip count, to forge alliances.
"Come on, boys," he said, standing up. "Let's go make some new friends... or enemies. Either way, it'll be a day to remember."

As Lorenzo, Adam, and Leo walked through the bustling streets of Small Heath, they soon found themselves in the heart of Lee family territory. The atmosphere shifted noticeably, with wary glances and hushed whispers following their every move.
After a tense few minutes, a group of Lee men approached, their leader stepping forward with a suspicious glare. "What's your business here, strangers?"
Lorenzo, unfazed, smiled charmingly. "Good day, gentlemen. I'm here to discuss a business proposition with your leader. It could be quite beneficial for the Lee family."
The Lee men exchanged skeptical glances. "Our boss doesn't meet with just anyone off the street. You'd best be on your way."
As Lorenzo attempted to persuade them, a familiar voice cut through the tension. "Lupo? What the bloody hell are you doing here?"
John Shelby emerged from a nearby alley, his face a mix of surprise and irritation.
Lorenzo turned, his smile widening. "Ah, John. Perfect timing. I was just about to present my offer to the Lee family."
John's frown deepened. "The same offer you gave us? Christ, Lorenzo, couldn't you wait for us to make a decision? Why are you shopping it around?"
Lorenzo's expression turned serious. "Business waits for no one, John. I wasn't bluffing when I said I had other options. If the Shelbys want in on this, you'll need to decide quickly."
John's jaw clenched, clearly torn between anger and grudging respect for Lorenzo's boldness. "You're playing a dangerous game, Lupo. This isn't America - things work differently here."
"That's precisely why I'm here, John," Lorenzo replied smoothly. "To bridge those differences and create something truly extraordinary."
As the two men faced off, the Lee family members watched with growing interest.
John nodded to the Lee family members, a silent understanding passing between them. "I've got this," he said, and the Lee men backed off, respecting John's connection to their family.
Turning to Lorenzo, John gestured for him to follow. "Come on then, let's talk somewhere more private."
Lorenzo shrugged at Adam and Leo, and the group followed John through the winding streets of Small Heath. They soon arrived at the newly acquired Shelby Company Limited offices.
As they entered, Lorenzo took in the surroundings with an appreciative eye. "Nice place you've got here, John. My compliments to Thomas on his taste."
Before John could reply, a female voice rang out from an adjacent room. "Who's just come in?"
John turned to see his sister Ada entering the main office area. Her eyes widened as she took in the sight of the well-dressed strangers.
"Who are they?" Ada asked, her curiosity evident.
John gestured towards the group. "These are the Americans Polly told you about. The ones with the business proposition."
Ada's eyes lit up with recognition and interest. She scanned the three men, her gaze lingering on each of them. "Which one of you is Lorenzo Lupo?"
Lorenzo stepped forward, a smile playing on his lips. "That would be me, Miss Shelby." His eyes traveled over Ada appreciatively, taking in every detail. "It's a pleasure to finally meet you. I've heard... intriguing things."
Ada felt a blush creeping up her neck under Lorenzo's intense scrutiny. She felt as if his gaze was peeling away layers, leaving her exposed.
John, noticing his sister's discomfort, couldn't resist a jab. "What's the matter, Ada? Cat got your tongue? That's a first."
Ada shot him a glare, quickly regaining her composure. "Shut it, John. I'm just surprised to see our American guests in the flesh. Especially after all the fuss you boys have been making."
Lorenzo chuckled, his eyes never leaving Ada. "I do hope I live up to the hype, Miss Shelby. Perhaps we could continue this delightful conversation over tea sometime?"
John's protective instincts flared, but before he could intervene, the office door swung open again. Thomas Shelby strode in, his piercing gaze taking in the scene before him.
"Well," Thomas said, his voice cool and measured. "It seems we have an unexpected gathering. Shall we move this to my office, Mr. Lupo?"
As Lorenzo followed Thomas into his office, Adam and Leo found themselves in an awkward silence with John and Ada Shelby.
John cleared his throat, eyeing the two Americans suspiciously. "So... you work for Lupo, eh?"
Adam nodded, his posture tense. "That's right. We're his most trusted men."
Ada, still intrigued by the newcomers, leaned against a nearby desk. "And what's he like, your boss? As a person, I mean."
Leo exchanged a quick glance with Adam before responding. "Mr. Lupo is... complex. Brilliant, but dangerous when he needs to be."
"Sounds familiar," Ada muttered, thinking of her brother Thomas.

As Lorenzo and Thomas entered the private office, the door closed behind them with a soft click. Lorenzo settled into a chair across from Thomas, his posture relaxed but alert.
"Your sister is quite striking, Thomas," Lorenzo said, a smile playing on his lips.
Thomas chuckled, lighting a cigarette. "I wouldn't get any ideas, Lupo. Ada's already involved with someone. Besides, I didn't think a woman who's already given her first time to another would interest you."
Lorenzo's eyebrows raised slightly, impressed. "You've done your homework, I see."
Thomas nodded, exhaling a plume of smoke. "Indeed. I know about Deborah and Mica. How they were... untouched before you."
Lorenzo's smile widened, inwardly amused that Thomas's intelligence had its limits. He hadn't uncovered Apollonia or little Hera. "A man in your position can't be too careful, I understand. But tell me, Thomas, how does this information factor into our potential partnership?"
Thomas leaned forward, his piercing blue eyes locked on Lorenzo. "It tells me you're a man who values... exclusivity. In business and in pleasure. So I have to wonder, why are you really here, offering deals to every gang in Birmingham?"
Lorenzo's expression turned serious. "Because, Thomas, I'm looking for the right partner. Someone who understands the value of what I'm offering. The Shelby family has potential, but so do others. I'm simply exploring all my options."
Thomas chuckled, a hint of amusement in his eyes. "So you're playing the field, eh? Like a man courting multiple women, looking for the best match."
Lorenzo's expression remained serious. "In business, the more connections you have, the more powerful you become. I've never doubted that principle."
"Perhaps," Thomas replied, taking a drag from his cigarette. "But in my experience, loyalty to a select few is far more valuable than a multitude of fair-weather friends."
Lorenzo leaned forward slightly. "In our line of work, Mr. Shelby, connections are currency. I don't expect loyalty; I expect mutual benefit. And don't confuse my business strategy with my personal life. My relationships with my women are built on love and loyalty - that's entirely separate."
Thomas's eyebrow arched, a knowing smirk playing on his lips. "Is that so? And yet you seem quite interested in pursuing my sister. How does that fit into your... loyal relationships?"
Lorenzo simply smiled, neither confirming nor denying Thomas's accusation.
Lorenzo leaned back, his tone casual but his words calculated. "Contrary to what you might think, Thomas, I'm not particularly concerned with a woman's... history. What matters is if they catch my interest, and if they can be of use to my business. Like Ada, for instance."
Thomas's eyes flashed dangerously. "So you're proposing a marriage alliance? Tying our families together through my sister?"
Lorenzo smiled, unfazed. "Why not? It's a time-honored tradition, isn't it? A way to ensure loyalty between families."
Thomas was silent for a moment, his face unreadable. "Ada already has someone. Freddie Thorne. They're quite... attached."
Lorenzo chuckled, a knowing glint in his eye. "Ah yes, Freddie Thorne. The communist agitator. I'm afraid his life expectancy isn't particularly long."
Thomas's eyebrows shot up. "Is that a threat, Lupo?"
Lorenzo laughed, shaking his head. "Not at all, Thomas. I don't need to lift a finger. Freddie's political views will be the death of him. It's only a matter of time."
Thomas studied Lorenzo carefully, trying to gauge the truth in his words. The American's confidence was unsettling, as was his apparent knowledge of Shelby family affairs.
